PJ for the first time in Austria, as far as I remember Ed only talked once to the crowd, talking about the idea not to play here (right-wing party government participation) ending in a furious 'Even Flow'.
A wonderful version of RITFW finished the show.
2. Vienna 2006
PJ first time in my hometown, "Sad", "Life Wasted", "Come Back" and of course "Fuckin' Up" before "Ledbetter" closed this great night.
Salzburg, Austria 06-18-2000 Vienna, Austria 09-25-2006 Vienna, Austria 06-16-2007 Berlin, Germany 08-15-2009 Berlin, Germany 06-30-2010 Amsterdam, Netherlands 06-26-2012 Amsterdam, Netherlands 06-27-2012 Praha, Czech Republic 07-02-2012 Trieste, Italy 06-22-2014 Vienna, Austria 06-25-2014
1- Randall's Island 1st night sick show, the crowd was the best i've been a part of we would of stayed there in the rain moshing for 2 more hrs but it rained so hard Ed even comented on the fact that the crowd was hard core " not like the pussies in Tampa " ....
2- State College 03 , I still haven't seen the band leave everything on the stage like that night ... Ed was great that night .
1. I think Hamilton 05 was one of the more amazing shows and setlists...
2. The first night at Jones Beach in 00 (I think it was)... they opened with Long Road.
The MSG shows are always up there as well... I guess I'm biased because I'm an east coast guy.
Any show from April 94 thru the end of that North American Tour. Atlanta gets alot of attention, but Boston 2 on 4/11/94 (I attended) and Boston 3 (Orpheum Theatre) the next night were both untouchable also. Boston 2 had the "stage smash" exit, first Immortality, last Leash for 11 years, and Matt Lukin doing "Happy Trails". The show was ridiculously good. Boston 3 had the "crew setlist" and was performed in the intimate setting of the small Orpheum theatre. At that time, Cobain had just died, so PJ seemed to have an extra edge. Not that a young but now somewhat seasoned and more confident Vedder needed any more edge!! 1994 was an amazing year for this band, especially live.

thats ridiculous IMO, cmon BRO... shows from 2003 2005 2006 kick those shows ass...
MSG 03, PHILLY 05, STATE COLLLEGE & MANSFIELD 03... Bonaroo... there is a ton that Id have to say beat those older shows... IMO ofcourse...
Agree to disagree. When they re-arranged the early songs, I lost interest in them. I'd rather see 25 minute shows with the volatility and with the old song arrangements, than 2.5 hours with the old songs in their newer arrangements, plus new songs. Believe me, I envy those who are getting more musical satisfaction out of their new performances than their old performances.

Def an interesting take on it... its funny cause i like their NEWER shows SO MUCH more than their Older.. For instance...
BLACK... WAY better now in my opinion... Mike's SOLO's are much better and the improv at the end & bringin back the WE BELONG together and the Crowd i think makes it awesome...
ALIVE - Like it more now also... Crowd is amazing and the energy makes my hair stand up every time i hear it...
RVM _ Better Jams now
LEASH is back... WHY GO is back... RATS is back.. WHO YOU ARE, WMA i love knowing there is a chance to hear these now...
ill give you PORCH... OLD Porch live is prob a little better than new PORCH... but i love how Mike and Stone Trade SOLO'S sometimes... which leads me to
ROCKIN IN A FREE WORLD - Love STONE and Mike on the more recent versions...
I guess i just like all the JAMS better now than the older versions... plus, CRAZY MARY dont have that back in the old shows, especially with the way they jam it out now... I also feel like shows from 2000 on are much more UNPREDICTABLE setlist wise... I do realize obviously that will happen as they have more and more material to choose from...
As you said Agree to Disagree... NEW or OLD... Cant go Wrong with LIVE PJ and more than that i love that we have people like US to have intelligent discussions on things like this!

Yes, I do much prefer an intelligent discussion re: the differences in old vs new. Some people like to flame on, and I love to prove them wrong even more.
Actually, while I'm a GIGANTIC fan of Abbruzzese's style and the old arrangements of their live songs, the only old songs I prefer Cameron on and the new arrangement of is Black and Release. It had great energy, and as a drummer I always loved how the drums and guitar intertwined so perfectly, where as now on those songs the drums are often arbitrary to how the songs are arranged ...and now I would probably pay more for a ticket to a show if they promised not to play most of their old catalog because it's now a waste of time to hear a song with horrible playing, especially compared to the original brilliance of what it once was. I'd rather hear a cover band play SOLAT than the real band. Cameron's own stuff with PJ though is brilliant. I say let's do an all-Cameron-songs tour, and drop most of the old material. It's not the same anymore, and 99% the difference in the drumming.
