still maybe my least favorite song of theirs... if anything it grew off me

its like a really bad attempt at an "all those yesterdays" type song
    "Senza speme vivemo in disio"

  • This was actually the fist song on S/T that stuck out to me. I remembered being completely shocked when I found out most people didn't like it. Although I guess that goes for the whole album, I think every song is great (except maybe comatose).

Ha... and I love COMOTOSE. I love the blood curdling anger of it. I'd like more of that from Ed.

    Cheers.

this one is well and truly Stones fault
i do not understand the love for it, worst song on self titled in my opinion :o

i think it shares that title with gone, come back, unemployed, and inside job... the staying power of that entire album is :? ... funny how everyone liked it so much more than riot act at first but i slowly see the scales shifting

Pretty sure Riot Act is still generally considered their worst (and for good reason).

I'm a bit puzzled by the songs you chose, though. "Gone" and "Inside Job" are both great, and the others are good as well.

:o come back and inside Job are great songs, and unemployable is not bad

when it all comes down to it, it is a personal opinion, and no matter how much people argue, it won't change peoples opinions of it.

This post is complete HOG WASH! Three of the four songs you listed are the best on the album. LOVE -> GONE, COMEBACK and INSIDE JOB.

No shift. Riot act is the worst album and its still good.

eh... we'll have to agree to disagree on S/T... just dont think it has aged well... and were only talkin 3 years... life wasted, severed hand, and MITS still hold up pretty well... but i could toss the rest without caring much... i think there was just too much time between albums - the scrutiny gets worse as i get more impatient

maybe everything will be revitalized when i have new material to dig into... dont really see the ones i mentioned growing on me though... just BAD lyrics

Love Parachutes, second only to Inside Job on S/T.

im a known hater of the second half of Avocado, but for some reason i liked this song from the start.

i think its a fun little trippy song.

I find it odd that anyone could appreciate this song and not The Fixer. But yeah, I like this tune. The album pretty much goes downhill for me after this one.
like someone said earlier it kinda has a beetles-ish quality i like.

I'll give you Inside Job. However, Ed has never written a bad lyric. Ever.

I really disagree with the dislike of Avocado. This album is AWESOME. Among the band's best work. It has already out sold Binaural. The boys came back with a vengence with this material. I hadn't bought a cd since Vitalogy until this masterpiece brought me back in the fold. Granted, I did miss out on alot, but I got every other album AFTER Avocado got me interested again. Thank God for that because it's been a great rediscovery!!

Awesome song, awesome record. One of the reasons why Avocado restored my level of supreme faith I had up until RA. Miles above slow songs like TMW. Gossard is king. His Pearl Jam songs are always incredible!!!

You and I don't agree on a few issues. But we do here. I LOVE Parachutes. You should really do your best to blast Unemployable and Army Reserve loud. They really are soooo good as well.

still think parachutes sounds more like something off bayleaf than a PJ song though...

Although I love RA, I agree with you about Thumbing My Way. It's an ok song. But not half as good as the others you listed.

I really like it... I think it is close to being a great song... but there is just something keeping it just shy of being in "phenomenal song" territory for me.

yeah true. Will never be a "classic" but it's really good. the best song on S/T i think. The only one where Eddie doesn't sing in that screaming/strained/thin/grownling voice that sucks.

    I like Parachutes!

great tune, I really really like it!!! It's like a cute melody McCartney would have liked to compose in the mid 60's!
