it should be no one's priority. come on seriously, how clearer and cleaner do you need to see Ed's white pants?

 it's not just about video, the audio is much better, too.

I agree 100% they should have one coming out. At least go back and release Live at MSG after cleaning up the elements a bit.
Good way to draw in some new fans. Friends are always asking me to recommend a good concert Blu-ray; would love to add Pearl Jam to that list. Nice 24 bit audio track would be fantastic..

Yes, pretty much lossless.. What is the bit rate of DVD?
  • t0mMyet0mMye Posts: 821
486kb for DVD Dolby Digital. DTS-HD MA up to 24.5 MB on Blu-ray, not sure what Dolby True HD is up to but they are supposed to be almost identical.

very true. though do you think the Dolby Digital DBYTS-HD MAM CAM with Sonic 243.5 MB bit rate will be enough to shatter a frozen testicle if need be?

I have $4,000 52 inch LCD TV with 240 mhz....

    Blu Ray looks INSANE!

It's also a great opportunity to take Neil Young's advice and to put out the archive. It'd be a shame not to, really. ;)

The Imagine in Cornice dvd has HD written all over it. Filmed in HD and what not. So they were rubbing it it, but we've never recieved a bluray release.

I'm all for everything possible in HD. It looks so clear on the TV. The concert DVD that got me hooked was Zeppelin's The Song Remains the Same. It looks brilliant in HD. Seeing concerts from way back when in HD is awesome (and also rare as most concerts weren't filmed on 35mm at the time, so not too many concerts exists that can mastered in HD).

I totally agree, a pearl jam bluray would be awesome!

There was an article about the Neil Young Archives in Blu-Ray a while back where the company responsible for the transfer technology stated that several bands, including Pearl Jam (only one mentioned by name), had been asking about the technology. I think we'll see something for the 20th anniversary on BD. Hopefully before then tho.

    Bump for Blu-Ray!

I'd LOVE for PJ to release the next disc on Blu!

    Amazing, amazing picture and sound!
  • I just want the band's entire discography released in a Blu-ray audio format... remixed in 5.1, 6.1 or even 7.1!!

Does anyone in here have the Neil Young Archive Blu Ray set? I was interested in it but I just couldn't afford the $260.00 price tag on it. As a matter of fact, Amazon originally had it listed at 299.00 and then dropped it down to 260.00

I am assuming it looks and sounds great. Has anyone viewed it yet?

It's kind of a no-brainer with this target partnership and all. PJ or EV live blu-ray would make me cream myself. :D

It is spectacular. Not only does it look good, but it sounds better than anything you have ever heard.

Bump because this is still a great idea. And with the release of an unreleased demo yesterday it shows quite clearly that the band and their organization are up to doing new and unorthodox things.

Thanks 10C, btw, for putting out that unreleased demo! Gems like that used to be a real treasure to hunt down on the old European release singles from "Ten." Ultimately, I don't care how demos and b-sides are released as long as they are released. There's nothing quite as satisfying as listening to the evolution of a song and picking up on the artistic choices that were made to get it to it's final state.

    You totally made my day!

They shouldn't go back and clean up anything. They just need to release new material that was originally shot in HD.

    huh?
the technology exists, is embraced, why wouldn't one release their DVDS on bluray? it just makes SENSE.
and the difference is substantial in picture and sound quality, so again, why wouldn't an artist want to embrace a medium which enhances their product, and may enhance the enjoyment factor of their fans? win-win!

+1. But only if Scorcese directs.. even Danny Clinch's concert footage isn't shot properly... I find it to be way too jumpy. Scorcese starts wide and narrows down on one member and actually lingers there for more than two seconds at a time!
