Cool and Psychotic
So I'm playing through the entire catalogue...again...and I'm on Lost Dogs. And while listening to the two disks, it caught my attention that while each song was playing, I was perfectly hitting which album outtake the song was from. I mean, we all are borderline psychotic, if not completely there, to be able to do this, and I know most of us can do this. It's pretty cool and simultaneously funny that we all know the songs, albums, styles, and eras so well that when a song comes up that isn't on one of the main albums, we can easily say which era and recording session the song was from. Just an observation that I found rather humorous.

that's nothing, I can pin-point Beatles sessions straight to the day. Back in the USSR -August 22-23rd, 1968. Final take of Strawberry Fields Forever - December 21, 1966. I'm such a fucking dork. I'm gonna just stop now before I get into overdubs and mono-mixing.

I think with Pearl Jam, at least for me personally, the differences have been more discreet and it seemed as though you had to be a seasoned listener, really KNOW the albums and the music, to be able to say where all the Lost Dogs songs were from. Nothing against the beatles, they were the first band I ever got into, I actually took all of my mom's beatles cd's after she got me into them. For each and every album, the beatles had such a HUGE and massive dynamic style change that some material was easier to place. I'm not saying anything negative about either band, this is just a personal observation, that's all.
I know what you mean. You're never going to mistake a 1964 Beatles recording for a 1967 Beatles recording. Unless you really know you're Pearl Jam, you probably couldn't tell if Alone was an Ten, Vs, or Vitalogy outtake
