I think that since the people who actively participate in this forum would probably consider themselves passionate fans of PJ's music, it is natural that some would be passionate in their reactions to PJ's music. Since there is great variety in people I think it is safe to say there will also be great variety in their reactions and responses. Hence: some people really, really enjoy "The Fixer" and some people really, really do not. Just as there are many people who do not reside on opposite ends of the spectrum, but rather somewhere closer to the middle, there are many people who might choose to not voice their opinions for varying reasons.
I think that you will recognize that you generally only hear the opinions of people that choose to voice them.

That is irrefutable. "The Fixer" is not my song. I did not write it. Once I hear it, though, am I not free to give it personal context? To personalize it through analysis and to internalize it as I see fit?
Additionally, what is "fuken?" If you mean to curse at hundreds or thousands of people whom you do not know and whom you are introducing yourself to for the first time, do you think cursing is really the wisest way to represent yourself? I'm not chastising here, I'm asking this genuinely.

No. I do not go on to a band's side which I do not like and complain. If you ask me it would be a waste of time, energy, and effort to do so. Also, I don't really want any more user-logins and passwords to manage.
It's my take that people usually only complain about things which they really care about. So in the grand scheme of things it seems to me to be a good thing that people are complaining about this new song. As I see it, it means that PJ still has a healthy fan base. On top of that it is a fan base that accepts the intellectual challenge of PJ's music as a piece of art, which always holds subjective meaning for listeners/viewers.

It's true. Eddie Vedder is exceptionally talented. I don't know that he really needs the defense of anyone on this board to keep his confidence up about his abilities though. As far as "fuk"ing off. Yes. "The Fixer" is a rock song. I don't know that it's inclusion in that category of existence precludes it from analysis and substantive judgments by a listening audience though. I do agree that hearing less complaints, in the grand scheme of things, would make my day more enjoyable as well. I think that even the board moderators would encourage a healthy debate as long as it was conducted civilly though. In part, by civilly, I mean without resorting to cursing and name calling.

You're going about this the wrong way. Nothing's wrong with speaking your mind, but do it in a way that doesn't potentially insult roughly 50% of this forum's population. Not to mention, like it or not, if you're advocating freedom of speech, and you're saying only keep the positive posts, isn't that an oxymoron? If you keep the floodgates of speech open, accept that good and bad will be coming in!
