Songs that Come to Mind

I was outside with my children and my 6 year old son brings me a dandelion puff and he says "Here mom, I have a wish for you..." I smiled...he's so sweet...he loves his momma...and to all those wondering...no I don't treat the lawn with chemicals to get rid of dandelions and other weeds. You see, we are vegetarians and my son...well... he loves to eat the flowers and other things that grow naturally in the yard... he's always asking "What's this? Can I eat it?" Ok, I digress... So I said "No son...you keep the wish." "He looks at me earnestly and says, "Do these really help your wishes come true?"

Then the line from the song Sad comes to mind (a song I've been listening to quite a bit lately due to a project I was working on)"...If just one wish could bring him back..." I know I changed it a little...and the jaded grown up in me tried to peak out it's ugly little head. NO..no...I had to remind myself...we still believe...we still believe...

I fumbled a little trying to find the right thing to say to someone who is still pure and not jaded by the big mean world. " I don't know son, I like to think that just like the seeds you are blowing from the stem, some wishes will be rooted and grow, while others will wither away and die. So you should just keep wishing..." He smiled, gave me a hug and a kiss and went off to make his wish...

Its strange how in any given moment in a day a song...whether it be a Pearl Jam song or any other band ...can come to mind...and fit...or just come to cause trouble...
