as i think about this..... and fight to get it back again...

backspacing to a simpler time
when a nickel wasn't a fucking dime.
back-tripping to a sweet place that,
we shook our bangs in unison.

i digress.

it seems that to backspace is to correct and begin again.
kinda fixer it... like.

not that anything needed re-doing, just that mind-travel is kinda cool.

i backspace myself and say LMMFAO!

i love the new song. Poppy as it is, it has layers.

these are our boys after all.
WOOT!

I have a somewhat different take on the title backspacer in the context of the lyrics I read so far. I already posted this in another post/forum. I think it could be interesting. It could also be that I blow smoke out of my bumhole, but if I tie the lyrics together a interesting picture emerges.

Here is my former post that was blatantly ignored ;)

I read some transcripts on the net regarding the lyrics. (Im not sure if I'm allowed to publish them here. ) And I didn't hear the songs, so I'm not sure where the tonations are or how emotional the lyrics are represented. (Tonations are very important for the meaning of the word.)

    What I can tell is:

That the lyrics of Got Some are very straightforward with an ambigious political edge. Not political towards the White House, IMO - but there has been an whole debate on that already on this forum - more political on where *you* stand. The internalized politics. A reflection on where you are and what your opinions are and how you influence your world and the political arena.

The lyrics of The End are sad and describing, in my opinion at least, the end of a relationship. It has (and this is of course my POV) the same weakness that Parachutes had: saying too much in too little space. But there are some very nice lines in there, but it could be more poetic and methaphorical.

The lyrics of Speed of Sound blew me away. Those were lyrics of the old days: deep and self reflecting. I'm not sure what the Speed of Sound is referring to: depression, loneliness or it has been mentioned by others: drug use. (I think the emphasise on the words will give some insight.) But there is one line that excited me, and I'm paraphrasing: "that each time I take it, it takes something away". Whatever that "something is" it's is closely related to the methaphore of Speed of Sound. There will be lots of debates on this one. (Maybe the piano on this song will set the mood and clarify the meaning.)

Mind you these are all tentative lyrics for people have problems deciphering them of the poor quality of the recordings and they are updated day by day.

Unthought Known is quite interesting cause it refers to a pschogological concept: that some information - on how to perceive the world - is already embedded in our mind. That we know things, sense things, subconscienly, without truly knowing them. (We refere to this all the time by saying: "With this person I sense this or this..." Without being able to argue how we motivate "this or this".) I'm not sure how the title ties the lyrics together. For the lyrics seem to me somewhat generic. But here again: it could be the tonation or the emotion that will give some insight.

For all clarity: I didn't hear the songs, but the lyrics are floating around in other forums.

What I read so far, they reminded me abit of the lyrics during the Yield days. The songs are not as political as ST. The politics seems to be internalized and reflecting about our own behaviour. Maybe the title Backspacer has therefore nothing to do with Bush, but backspacing ourselves to the true meaning of things. On "where we as human beings stand".

    Anywayz, just a thought.
