The Fixer's success (so far)

I am lucky enough to live in a town with an independently owned alternative rock station. No Nickelback, or PApa Roach, or whatever crappy pop rock is out there today. And everyday they count down the most requested songs of the day. Well today, the second day the song had been out, 'The Fixer' came in at #2. So I would say the people like it, or want to hear it, so far, which is a good thing.

I was wondering, and perhaps I am reading too much into it, but maybe by not offering the song on iTunes or their website, it actually drums up interest in it, and people call in to their radio stations trying to get it played. Just a thought.

So anyways, this station has played it 5 times so far today. I wasn't awake, but apparently at 6:30 AM they played The Fixer, followed by Given to Fly, followed by Glorified G. They also throw on Wishlist one time. Pretty good day for PJ tunes I would say.

But anyways, how is The Fixer doing in your market?
words seem so out of place.

yeah, i think the thing here is, like i said, this is an independently owned and operated station. so i think it has a different fanbase that behaves differently than normal stations owned by clear channel or whatever, and this stations listeners actually help dictate what songs are played, because there is no corporate overhead telling the station what to play and when to play it. I don't listen to the radio a lot, but if I lived somewhere else that didn't have a station like this, I would probably never listen.

Dont listen to radio that much but when I just got into my car I was listening to a live version of Daughter. Then I realized that it wasnt my cd player but the radio so I stayed. The next song was the fixer. Sounded good on the radio...just seems a little short in length.

I'm so jealous of that radio station. I live in Minnesota and we had Drive 105 that would play a lot of good alternative/indie rock and I'm sure they'd play The Fixer a lot... but sadly like 1-2 years ago it turned into LOVE 105...sigh :(

Lithium on Sirius/XM plays alot of Pearl Jam. And not all of the typical songs. We get from Crazy Mary to Low Light to Leash. Lithium is only 90's rock so Binaural tunes on, don't get as much airtime but I've heard all kinds of Pearl Jam all over satellite radio.
  • It's has received two positive reviews, EW and NYMag, and It is getting played a lot in the Chicago area. Definitely has the ability to be a big song.

Mine played it a about a half hour ago. However, pretty much every other song is Nickelback/Saving Abel/Hinder/etc, so it's not worth it. Oh, and they've only played The Fixer 3 times since it came out.
    Thanks EPOTTSIII!

Here in Boston, I hear Glorified G, Immortality, Nothingman, Given to Fly, Small Town, Off he Goes etc all on regular FM radio. Granted we don't hear much post Yield, but I was shocked about 2 weeks ago I heard I Am Mine. I almost shit. :o
