What would put FIXER over the top at a live show?...

A McCready solo (I know, duh!), towards the end of the song, but give the track another listen and picture it...

At around 2:35, right after Matt pounds on the toms, you can totally picture MIkey ripping into a nice long impromptu solo. It's actually a sweet riff to solo over, and they can EASILY jam out the end for another 1-2 minutes. Wouldn't be surprised if this is what the actual live version is like, very much like evolution of the album versus live version of Corduroy (now with blistering solos every time). And while it might not totally make up for whatever lyrical shortcomings that many say the song has, it would definitely kick it up a few notches musically! 8-)

So there's my suggestion for the live version (Michael McCready, if you're listening!) - GO OFF with a solo on this one!!!

I was thinking the same thing first time I heard it. It seemed so perfect for one that I was actually *expecting* the solo.

Theyre not going to do anything with this song live. Just like they dont chance up Comatose too much or WWS, itll be a little more freestyle on the guitar but no extended solos. Cmon guys- what songs past Vitalogy really get the band into jam sessions?

It not being on the setlist at all would be swell.

Too bad this doesn't actually happen, case and point being "I Am Mine" for one. I thought for sure Mikey would get to wail out that ending solo live, but nope.

Let's be honest here, how many recent songs has Pearl Jam actually extended live? If anything, they end up even shorter these days.

esp the better songs- GTF, corduroy, DTE. The main songs they break down are from Ten, VS, Vitalogy.

Crazy Mary, Porch, Evenflow, Daughter, RVM, Betterman, Corduroy, Immortality, Alive

they could definitely jam out the end since the studio version has a crappy fade out and we cant really tell how it would end naturally. WTF with that fade out?
Pick up my debut novel here on amazon: Jonny Bails Floatin (in paperback) (also available on Kindle for $2.99)

yea but youve been in a few threads expressing dismay for this song- nothing wrong with that. so far this song means nothing to me. well see what a few live shows does to it. i just dont like the idea of this song taking the place of another song on a setlist.
