Dave Grohl in Pearl Jam

I remember reading a while ago that Dave Grohl almost became a PJ member, just around the release of Vitalogy maybe. I wonder what that would have been like, I really like Grohl, but would we have got albums like No Code and Yield? Any thoughts?

I don't think he was ever really gonna become their drummer. Nirvana just ended and Dave A just got fired so it was a typical rumor to begin going around

He actually played Drums for Pearl Jam at two gigs in Australia in the 90's.

I'm sure there were plenty of rumors going around, but I remember reading in RS that it was never really an option - PJ wasn't really interested and he wanted to play guitar.
yeah I know all that but by then Jack Irons was already Pearl Jam's drummer and Grohl had already recorded the first foo fighters album

Probably not, but if Matt leaves to reform Soundgarden, it would be awesome if the band could talk Grohl into ditching the Foos to play drums for them
He all along wanted to write, play guitar and sing.
Pretty sure it was all rumors.
I'd rather see Jimmy Chamberlain!! He's available, and his drumming is like a fusion of Matt Cameron's stamina and tom-playing, and Dave Abbruzzese's understanding of drum dynamics and precision.

Don't underestimate Grohl's drumming though, he's now considered a guitarist/singer, but not only is his best instrument drums, he's one of the best drummers in the world, even of all time. Any song is noticeably better for Dave's drumming - and that's a remarkable thing for a drummer.

I really hope you're kidding.
not everyone has to like them .. i didn't say there fans sucked !!
That'd be cool. If he's clean, he might really love playing for a major band that's not ruled by an egomaniac like Billy.
It is one thing not to like them, it is something else to call them a "crap band".
Songs for the Deaf - enough said.
A song for the dead is very impressive, Dave is an animal on that song.
