Really...give the man (Obama) a year...I don't know where people are getting happy go lucky...has anyone, besides myself, listened to the lyrics to these new songs? They may be irrelevant at this moment...but not too long ago things weren't so happy... I don't know maybe it's just my perception...but I have been so wrong about Ed before so...what ever
edit: I was referring to Unthought Known, Speed of Sound, The End, Got Some...The Fixer is a little more hopeful I suppose...but again...I am often wrong...

I don't recall him ever being strongly anti-democrat so much as he was (like many) disillusioned with them and thus supporting the green party. He spoke out in defense of Clinton on the 98 tour. It would seem that he (again, like many) saw that there was more danger in having a nutter like Dub in office than there was in having a less than ideal dem in office is all. Other than supporting Obama's candidacy for president, what cheerleading has he done for the democrats?

In any event, the single certainly sounds a lot more upbeat than anything they've done in a while, and both songs I've heard don't seem as overtly political as the stuff on the last two albums, so we may have an album that's a bit more happy go lucky than usual ahead of us.

I say he'll be politically silent this tour... just a feeling I get.

I do think the music he writes when he's angry though is not as poppy and more driving, which I like better. It does seem that the unhappy mood overall makes better lyrics and music...at least it appears that way sometimes...

Kerry was such a lame duck candidate. Getting his photo taken hunting, telling everyone that would listen that he was pro gun ownership. Not taking Bush to task over his military record when G W attacked his own service record. He seemed to spend alot of time pandering to the right and defending himself rather than attacking G W's policies and his first 4 years in office.

By "bailing out his banker buddies" are you talking about TARP? I'm pretty sure that wasn't part of the stimulus. In fact, I'm pretty sure that came from the previous administration. Gripe about the stimulus all you want. I think it will work. I think it will create jobs and move the US towards progressive ways of producing our own energy through the green jobs it creates.

Signing the Patriot Act did suck though...I'll give you that
