KROQ - Los Angeles - No sign of PJ or The Fixer

On their website, no news blurb, no trace of it, not in the what's new section, not in the most played, not in the most requested, not in the playlist, can't find anything. The 4 LA shows are mentioned in their concert calendar.

Last go-around, WWS was the most played, most hyped, most requested, etc. KROQ was on a total PJ promotion kick. But now, nada, nothing.

Out of curiosity, where would one in LA hear the Fixer on the radio? KLOS hasn't fully embraced PJ. Some DJ's more than others. They really go for 1960's-1980's. Can't imagine them playing new stuff unless the artist is a classic rocker in their 60's. Even then, probably nothing.

Any thoughts?

I've heard on KROQ 2 times today. Once on way into work, once on lunch. It was at even hours so i was assuming it was being played very hour.
“I know this song so well, I can smoke a cigarette, have a drink, brush my teeth, take a shit, and mow the lawn while singing it. But I'll only be doing a couple of those things during this version.”

And, don't all stations east of the Miss river have a 'W' and west of the Miss it's 'K'?

They ARE playing it...just heard it again for the 2nd or 3rd time today. They have no mention on the website yet, because it seems they don't have the artwork, but they are definitely playing it. (and loving I might add)

Star 98.7 has been playing it every hour on the hour....just now, KROQ played it at the exact same time. Interesting....
  • Yeah i heard them back to back at around 11.05am pacific..

Oh cool, so they are playing it. The website had no trace which was exactly the opposite of what happened with WWS. Great, thanks!

It was advertised over the weekend on KROQ that The Fixer would premiere on the Kevin & Bean show at 6am, which it did. I then heard it at 1pm and 2pm. So yeah, just because there's no mention on kroq.com doesn't mean they're not playing it. The "What's New" and "Most Played" and "Most Requested" sections of the website take a little bit to get updated anyway, so you probably won't see much about it for a few days at the earliest.

Kevin & Bean premiered it today at 6:00am. I set my alarm just to hear it, then went back to sleep. They said they'd play it again at 7:00am. And over the weekend, I heard announcements about it (that's how I knew to tune in this morning), so yeah, at least for now, they're paying it some attention.

Btw - Damn, I love the song! It can already imagine how great it's going to sound live! :D

I heard it on KROQ on the way home. So I guess it is just their website that has no signs or traces of it... yet.

My brother heard it today on kroq and loved it. He also said KLOS is promoting the shows big time. And, star98 actually says THEY are presenting pearl jam in concert?????? :o I thought it was always kroq and not STAR!

Corporate? Sounds like this is right up PJ's alley. Maybe they can have a promotion involving TARGET where the 100th caller receives a Home makeover worth $5000 from Target. We'll call the prize pack "THE HOME FIXER". Sorry couldn't resist.............

Gone a long time ago. Became 94.7 The Wave. Probably gone 15 years, too lazy to research. With about two weeks in advance, there was an echoing sound and a voice that said "two weeks left". No other indication of anything. Then this went on for a couple of weeks. Then, on noon one saturday or sunday, I forgot, they played a Beatles montage after the DJ sounding really pissed announced 94.7 KMET and almost cursed. Then it came on, "this is KTWV, LA's newest radio station" and they played a Sting song. I thought ok, whatever, another rock station. Then the next song came on. Some mellow jazz elevator something and I permanently removed 94.7 from my FM presets. Many of the DJ's found their way to KLOS. There is some sort of reunion where geezers like Paraquat Kelley and the likes will be on-air on KLOS. Can't say, "long story short" after that but - no; gone. Too bad. Also, KEZY, that totally rockin AM station from Orange County from that time period is also gone.

The last I heard, 105.5 in LA gets you latin music. But it has been a while so that could have changed too.

Howard Stern used to be on 97.1 FM in Los Angeles (it broadcasted his show from NY). One day Stern left to Sirius, and then early this year, 97.1 KLSX FM Talk went from talk radio to a shitty pop music station.

I remember listening to 97.1 FM Talk the last day it was a talk radio station, which was 2/20. I remember the date because my father passed away the next day. I really hate the station it became. The John and Jeff Show moved to 640 AM.
