i appreciate anyone who can help me w/ my poster issue. i have a lot of posters that i want to get framed one day, but right now, i just want to keep them in as good a condition as possible.

i have read (on here and other places), about how to preserve posters until framing, so i went to a michael's tonight to look for acid free craft paper, and some acid free foam board.

i ended up buying 2 pieces of elmer's acid free (it says ansi-niso certified, and chlorine free, acid free), foam board.

Question 1: will this be ok to use to store several posters? how many is the max i should put between these foam boards.

Question 2: i can't seem to find acid free craft paper anywhere. i searched online but was never quite sure if the product was what i needed. local stores don't seem to have any acid free paper. could anyone give me a link to a dealer online? any particular brand or kind that is best?

thanks for your time.

I am in the boat with ya dude. We have so many posters we can't put them all up. I want to store them flat and am still working on the best way to do that. A while ago someone was nice enough to post a link for the Bully Box (I think thats what they were called) and I should have got one then. Now I need one and can't find them anywhere. All I get in a search is lousy cardboard boxes to store movie posters that costs like 30 bucks and looks like a large pizza box. I don't like that one. Seems cheap and not very protective.

I'm sure we can get some answers from all the poster buffs on the board!!
Thank you fellow 10 clubber for saving my ass....again!!!

yeah, it sucks b/c i don't know what to do w/ them other than stack them up together until i can figure out something to do w/ them. i have a ton i left in tubes for a long time that i'm sure are messed up, but it's too late to do anything about it now.
  • here is your answer. toss the elmers garbage.

    search for a ITOYA 18 x 24 portfolio.

i have an "ITOYA 18x24 profolio evolution" and i love it. i can flip through my posters when ever i want very easily. i keep it flat under my bed, i even have a A/P dusseldorf in there. its awesome.

for those prints that are bigger, like tampa 2008, i use a poster sleeves that i buy at the art store. they are just like the pages in my portfolio but larger.

i also use a 8x10 profolio for my sticker collection.
I shit and I stink, I'm real, join the club...

that looks really nice. i have a few questions if you don't mind. are the pages rigid for support. since there's 2 posters per page, is there some type of backing between. i would assume there is, but just checking.

    thanks for the info.

    guy's, guy's, guy's .. i have your answer's! :)

    Picturesque Presentation Cases
    24x36 style! :)

    http://www.jerrysartarama.com/discount-art-supplies/Portfolios-and-Presentation/Picturesque-Presentation-Cases.htm

Picturesque is not only one of the elite cases on the market today but it is priced well below its value. Compare its features and quality to the very highest quality cases on the market and you'll be amazed at the price. Our additional savings makes Picturesque the last word in professional presentation.

The Ivory black color of the case and its rich fine texture creates a smart and clean image so the viewer can concentrate on your artwork and look forward to the contents within. Inside the case are 10 or 5 polypropylene pages that are sealed on three sides. They feature a deep black, acid-free insert and a transparency to show off your art in its best setting.

The pages are fitted into a matte black multi-ring binder. Also included is a elastic strap on one side, a pocket on the other side and a place for business cards and CD-ROM or DVD discs. Cases are light in weight making them easy to carry and the largest case which accepts large prints and watercolors has a shoulder strap as well. Pages are acid-free and will not cause transfer of ink jet images onto the page.

    :)

    get it while it's hot!

I have found that the best way to store posters is using mylar sleeves:

    http://www.bagsunlimited.com/cart/browse.asp?subcat=195

I use the 4 mil sleeves and store them piled up in a large box. You can get 2 posters to a sleeve (possibly more however I wouldn't suggest it). You could also use acid free backing boards if you feel the need. The mylar is not very thick so you need to flatten out the posters before storing them if you are not using backing boards.

The portfolios also work however the can get expensive and have limited space.

nope they are not rigid pages. there is a piece of black acid-free paper in each sleeve, to seperate the posters. its great and works fine. only problem is that youll find yourself buying posters just to fill it up...

i think the other sleeves i use are made by picturesque but im not sure. i have four 20x26 sleeves for my larger prints. they have leather binding around the edges.

the problem with the large picturesque portfolio is that its $130. i wish itoya would come out with a bigger one than 18 x 24 cause their prices are better.

This is what I have been looking for! So if I get the largest one, can you fit 2 posters in each sleeve? Also, I would be able to get a refill pack and add to the binder. That can be done right? I think it said up to 40 pages a binder? Sorry for the questions, just woke up and want to place order today!!
    Thanks D, always the helper!!
