i have to say, here's why i don't think its the new single...
other than the fact i have a good feeling some people know somethings, i've had no reason to believe the Fox has ever particularly had a special interest for Pearl Jam, least of all to hype up only a song release... and whenever they do regular song releases, they certainly don't label it "big announcement".
true enough.. im hoping for a show announcement...
off topic..
saw The Hip front row at the Danforth Music Hall in T.O.

ps, speaking of Gord..
If this is the same fox I am thinking of they used to play pearl jam quite a bit back in the day. Back before internet radio I used to listen to the rock stations from across the country via my Star Choice satellite and the Fox in Vancouver, Edge 102 in Toronto and Power 97 in Winnipeg would all give lots of PJ love!

That's not true at all. The Fox has presented every Pearl Jam show they've ever done here, they've done "world album premieres," contests to send fans to other places to see them AND a contest related to their Commodore show in 2000. Love 'em or hate 'em, this radio station absolutely DOES pay special attention to PJ every time they're in the news.

that was 9 years ago...
in the last few years that i've listened to them, i've not noticed much.
i mean, since the dawn of nickelback... 3 days grace etc...
i wasn't into the band when the commodore show was done..
they had a pearl jam weekend once a little while ago i think but, what i mean is, would they really hype up a song release?
and what other stations would present pearl jam?
there isnt much, unless you count jack maybe?
Pretty craptacular end result. You advertise that you're playing the single at noon and then spin it 45 minutes early, and instead of replaying it, we get a live Kid Rock track... sweet (audible sarcasm).
Looks like nothing today, boys and girls. Move along...
For what it's worth, I emailed Neil Morrison (the DJ who's on the air right now), and he said they dropped the new single early because they wanted to play it as soon as they could to prevent other area stations from getting the jump on them.
He also said they'd be spinning it again right at 1, so all you finger crossers, stay tuned!

sounds as though CFOX was just looking to hype the song with no show on the horizon, it's too bad,...

there are a billion places you can get it now, don't they realise it?!!!!
The only other times i have heard them announce concerts on the fox other then in the morning is at 6pm on the rock report
Good point. I was thinking that since Jeff O'Neil was on vacation maybe they'd get Neil Morriison to drop news, but I think that ship has sailed. Frustrating, because I was thinking there really WAS a good chance we'd be hearing something. Who knows? Could still happen...

Sometimes they announce fairly large shows on the rock report, Slayer/Megadeth, Green Day and Blink 182 come to mind just recently. They could also use the new single, album info as the "big news" of the day and combine it in there, or not.

Morrison keeps talking about the Seattle shows . . . no mention of love for us. When did you guys hear that there was going to be some sort of big news today?

much appreciation to the photographer... whoever that was...
I think at this point the safe play is to assume that the earth shattering news was the new single and that maybe, just maybe, there's still something in the works.
If Neil is doing his job he would at least plug the Rock Report as having some huge Pearl Jam news while he's gushing about the Key Arena concerts. We may have to be content with two kick ass shows south of the 49th.

yeah i'm afraid so...
BUT.. i still have hope, for more reasons than one.
and for some ppl like equallyworthless & co., 2 shows across the border may not work out so well as they will for the rest of us :(
So, with finding this thread on the 4th page, I guess nothing happened on The Fox today - will anyone now say what they thought was going to be announced exactly ? Or is it still to come ?
Comments
someone said fixer at noon...better be an announcement with that.
well if its apparently coming at 12 than it is still possible...
