What's the traffic like from Burbank to San Diego on I-5. Google estimated that it could take about 4 hours with traffic, but does it usually take that long? I'll be taking off on Friday....would there be a best time to take off?

Any advice is appreciated! Thanks.

usually takes about 2.5 hours. With traffic it could go as much as 3.5 by my experience.

I'll also be making the drive. I hope to take a half day and leave LA around 3pm if I can. That way I don't have to worry about anything.

EDIT: without traffic is can be done in under 2 hours.

there's a good chance i'll be interested in some sort of car pool from hollywood to san diego, we could potentially share costs and save some money - what plans do you have so far?

This could be my situation as well depending if my wife and family want to make a weekend of it.

If I'm solo, I would be very interested in a carpool. I'm in South Pasadena, but will probably be leaving from where 710 freeway meets the 10, 60, and 5, in Monterey Park, CA.

No set plans yet. :) I'm still unsure on whether my wife will be coming with me, but I think I'll be up for a carpool for sure. I had thought about renting a car but haven't decided 100 %.

I have been to LA quite a few times to visit my brother and I'll be coming back again in October to visit again. Can't remember why.. ;)

I was last in LA for the Forum/Santa Barbara concerts in 2006. I arrived a day early and after getting settled in at my brother's place we decided to attend the horse races at the track right next to the Forum. (I believe it's the Hollywood Park?)

So I asked my brother how long it would take to get there from his house. He said, "between 30 minutes and 3 hours."

I'll be asking my brother about this.

Other LA PJ fans, would you recommend I 405 or I 5?
Down the street you can hear her scream youre a disgrace
As she slams the door in his drunken face
    And now he stands outside
And all the neighbours start to gossip and drool
He cries oh, girl you must be mad,
What happened to the sweet love you and me had?
Against the door he leans and starts a scene,
And his tears fall and burn the garden green

The West Hills area. At the foothills of the west end of the valley.
