Once in a lifetime ticket dilemma. Need help/advice.

So to give a little background I bought ten club tickets to the LA 10/07 show and the San Diego 10/09. The orginal plan was to travel down to be able to catch just those two shows. But yesterday morning something incredible happend. About 45 minutes after the ticketmaster sale had started I decided for fun to see what tickets were left at the LA shows. So I clicked on the 9/30 and selected 1 ticket. I could hardly believe or comprehend what happend next. It brought me back a FRONT ROW SEAT!!!! At this point I wasn't even sure I could attend the show but there was no way I could pass up a front row! So I bought it. Well thinking about it now it's going to be nearly impossible for me to attend this show. I live in Utah and for me to be able to go it will cost me an additional $350 that I don't have. I doubt I could take more time off work either. Know the last thing I want to do is sell this ticket. I'm sure I'll never again have this opportunity. Any advice/ideas?

but to answer your dilemma, if you can get off work, you should try to get out here...maybe see if anyone is driving out at that time and see if you could tag along

Front row? You gotta find a way to make this work. That's far too good an opportunity to pass up.

I'd say the logical thing to do would be to trade my ticket for a 10/06 or 10/07 front row. Two other people from this board actually got the same ticket. (they posted threads about it yesterday) One for the 10/06 the other for the 10/07. Well I talked to the 10/07 and after listening to his situation I don't think it work for him either. Still waiting for a reply from the 10/06 though.

Sell it and pay for the rest of your tour
  • Where do you live in Utah? I've been living in Park City and have managed to find ways to get back to LA for fairly cheap. Have you looked at Southwest flights? They're typically pretty cheap out of SLC.

You gotta go to the show. Could you pull it off that you only miss one day of work? Maybe 2? Leave a few hours early from work on the day of the show, fly to LA and fly back to Utah the next morning. First row will absolutely make it worth it!

I live in salt lake. I think what your saying is about my only option. I might be able to convince my boss to let me have that day off for Saturday. I'd fly there wensday morning and fly back really early thursday so I can still go to work.

Maybe I'm missing something here but how could you get front row from ticketmaster? wouldn't these only be available for 10 club members?

There are exactly 25 seats in the first four rows of the pit. So with Ten club taking 24 to make 12 pairs, there is an extra that TM sells.

    Lucky bastard got it! :D

Not going would be like winning the lottery and then giving the prize back.

Where there is a will there is a way. BTW, Always have a good rapport with your manager/boss so you can call in a favor at times like these.

If you really feel it is a "once in a lifetime" opportunity, you know that giving the ticket up will mean regretting it for a long time to come. Find a realistic way of getting the money that won't cripple you and just enjoy it. We all need to do things that seem crazy now and again, it reaffirms that we are truly living.

You have to find a way to get to the show. You are crazy if you pass up a front row ticket. Sell whatever you need to sell for extra cash. Beg and plead with your boss. No way you can pass this by. JUST GO TO THE DAMN SHOW! You will regret it the rest of your life if you don't.

yup. i agree with a lot of folks here. get to the show!! talk to your boss & work it out. offer to work overtime, do his laundry, wash his car. :) you can't pass this up. talk to your boss & if there's now way to make it work, then try trading it for another front row at another show. good luck!!!

You HAVE TO find a way to get to this show. Sure, changing your travel plans will cost you an extra $350, but look at it this way: How much would you pay for a front row ticket to the LA show? If you add that $350 to the face value of the ticket, you are looking at a $450 front row ticket. I would be willing to pay $450 for a front row ticket :)

This might be an incredibly naive question since I've been lucky with bosses (knock on wood), so I've never had to deal with not having time off approved; but if you don't feel like you can ask for the day off in advance, can't you just call in sick the night before/morning of? I mean, people do get sick unexpectedly, and they just can't make it to work that day, no matter how much their boss doesn't want them to miss work.
