Springsteen to play philly spectrum on 10/31?

so a friend of mine said that the "Reading" newspaper confirmed that Bruce Springsteen was closing out the Spectrum on Saturday 10/31. He lives in York, PA if that helps with the newspaper.'

Anyone else hear this?
can anyone confirm that pj will not be playing a 3rd show on that Saturday?

really wish tenclub would announce all shows at once...im sure there will be a 3rd show...but will they give anyone enough time to get the memo before tickets go on sale/sell out?

im just glad i was able to score seattle tickets...especially given the clusterfuck of trying for philly shows. But my friend REALLY REALLY wants to just see pj once in philly since thats close to where he lives. He's been a member since 96. So if anyone could share any info regarding a third show or if anyone has extra ticket or two for one of the philly shows...he would be grateful! Please let me know.
thanks!

There was a big rumor swirling around a week or so ago that the 31st will be a multi-band extravaganza, including Bruce and PJ and other big names. Could very well be true

So ya saying maybe Pearl Jam will play 4 nights? 28th, 29th, 30th. Then on the 31st play with a few mulli-bands for the final night @ the Spectrum? Oh mama!

I hope you are right for all the Philly fans, just find it hard to believe that PJ will be adding two more dates when you can still get tickets for the 28. I could see the 31 as a possibility since it would have no problems selling out, being a Saturday and the last show at the Spectrum.

well that would be the first im hearing of a tuesday show as well.

I would think your cousin should know when at least the public announcement and onsale info would be for these extra shows...mind asking him...since its your family and all ;)
    thanks!

Although a multiband deal for saturday would be cool for the sake of the spectrum...unless some of MY other fav bands will be playing...not sure im willing to drive 8 hours to see PJ for like 1.5 hours if that. hmmm

I got my tix through a booker for the spectrum. I wanted the 31st show and he said it does not exist and if it was even in the works he would have known first. Thats all I know. I ended up getting the 30th show. Hope that helps....

I HEARD THE PET SHOP BOYS WERE PLAYING ON THE 31ST. BRUNO TOLD ME.
  • Anyone from Philly honestly knows that Bon Jovi and Bruce have a much deeper history with Philly than Pearl Jam and it probably makes more sense for one of them to close it out than Pearl Jam, who have only played the Spectrum once 9 years ago..Hell, i even think Billy Joel is a more appropriate act to close out the spectrum...

Pearl Jam is my favorite band....and they are huge in Philly...but I don't think they are enough of a "Philly" band to really play three nights in a row and close the Spectrum out for good. I mean the last time they technically even played in the city was that amazing show in 2005.....and have only played in the city twice in the past 9 years.....Pearl Jam always plays the shitty E-Center, aka Tweeter Center, aka Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden, which pretty much sucks unless you are in the front rows.

    Just my two cents.

Didn't the dead close JFK in the early 90's? What about them is 'Philly'... Just sayin.

yea the dead have played there like 55 times or so. sure theres a deadhead on here that can confirm the exact amount.

Yeah the dead hold the record for sold out shows at the spectrum... With billy joel as a second I believe. But that's not what I'm saying. I'm saying that The Dead were the last to play JFK before they tore it down... And they are not considered 'philly' as say Bruce or dare I say it, bon jovi, so it's not unheard of for a non 'Philly' band to close the place down. So I think there's a strong chance PJ will be the last to play the spectrum.

My sister works at Bayside high school and she is confirming this too. I also called Bayside High School and the guy who answered the phone told me he wasn't allowed to say, but I should keep my fingers crossed. He also told me they would be selling VIP tickets for the event for $225. It includes a buffet and a special gift from the SBTB cast!

of course this would be a fanstastic bill,

but , who would open for who?

Bruce doesnt " open up " for anyone,

and its been a long time since he has had an opener, besides the festivals of late ,

or a multi- band Bonaroo type of thing,

Bruce gets very pissed at the crowds " Bruuuuuceing " the opening act(s)- so he eliminates that anymore

and finally the E Street Band is slated to say farewell to Spectrum 2 weeks prior to PJ appearing-

so logistically that presents a problem .

By your thinking, a proper way to close the Spectrum would be Balboa/Creed III.
