COWBOYS...WILL THEY MAKE IT 13 YEARS WITH NO PLAYOFF WINS?

well its almost training camp time which means its time for another annual thread about whether or not the cowboys will finally win a playoff game after what has now been....12 seasons.

so will they extend this streak to 13 years?

your jeagler kindly thinks they will. i think they are looking at a 3rd place finish in the nfc east at best. the g'ints and birds are just too good. its a tough division. skins might even challenge them for 3rd. i don't see them making the playoffs.

i do think getting rid of that fraud TO will help romo. but they gave up way too much for roy williams who is cearly not a top shelf reciever. and romo still has to prove that he won't choke it all away come december and january again.

so i say no.

what say you?

I hate the Cowboys as much as the next guy but it's just laughable for an EAGLES FAN to belittle them.

I think they're going to be much better than people think this year and a playoff win is within the offering.

Go PATRIOTS the return is coming.

Yeah I'm in West Chester (orignally from near Scranton) and I while my devotion to the Phillies has been relentless forever, I do not, under any circumstances, support the cause of the Eagles. I like the Steelers. But as you'd imagine, I'm exposed to Eagles fans every day of my life...and it's rough.

One of my best friends is a DIE-HARD Eagles fan. I mean, he's one of those "over-the-top, yelling and screaming, tattoo of the logo on his arm, attended two conference championship loses, wants to fight someone after they lose, punched a hole through his wall when they lost the super bowl" type of Eagles fans. And just for him, I LOVE to see them lose because it's so funny. I was watching the game where that Bucs kicker made a 63 yard FG to win it with him......oh my god.....I can't even describe the scene. But I take perverse pleasure in seeing Eagles fans suffer. And it's funny because they're the exact same people I cheer on the Phillies with.

And I can see it now, Wednesday, October 28th at the Spectrum: I'm walking out of the concert with thousands of others. We're all totally pumped that we saw a kick ass show and that there's another one in two days, and then......some guy will yell E-A (now people will join in) G-L (I'm rolling my eyes) E-S EAGLES!!!!!!!!! Someone will probably break one out during the encore break too.

No I think Eagles fans relishing in the Cowboys playoff woes of the last 12 years is laughable because The Cowboys' success over the previous 25 years was far greater than anything the Eagles franchise will ever accomplish.

But I'm an equal opportunity hater. If you were a Cowboys fan who was hating on the Eagles, I'd remind you how dominant the Eagles have been in that division during the McNabb/Ried era. See with the Eagles and Cowboys, I just like to play one side against the other in hopes that they'll someday destory each other.

Keeping it classy, I see....no wonder Philly fans are always noted as the worse. Is your life so bad that you have to build esteem not based on your or your team's accomplishments...but the lack of your opponents??? BTW, this will be 49 years and counting on that NFL Championship thing for a certain unnamed team. I would rather go 13 years without a playoff win than endure the fact that my team has not won a championship in my lifetime.

Teams that have won an NFL Championship since 1960:
    Cleveland Browns (1)
    Baltimore Ravens (1)

  • I don't think they will make the playoffs as well, but they won't be awful. I think they will be like the Pats, a team that should have made the playoffs but didn't. Roy Williams will be playing a bigger role so that's scary, Barber is going to be healthy, and with Ware on D you can't rule them out. But as long as HOMO is on the team, they will never win.

That said...the GMEN will win the division. The Eagles lost a lot of people but they will still be good. Every team in the division gives each other problems even if one is 12-0 and the other is 0-12.

The NFC South is going to be fuckin good too. But there is always the possibility of Giants, Eagles, Boys in the playoffs (who cares about the Skins?)

to each his own. this is pretty much an annual thread though...

but to me, i don't particularly care much about what happened in the 70's before i was born. the early nineties are a distant memory at this point too.

gotta live in the now brother!

so, back on topic, by not giving an answer, i take it you think the streak will continue this year then?

yeah your defense is gonna be sick again. are you worried about the offense though? i'd be with your recieving corps.

good points though. i could see the cowboys winning 9 or 10 and not getting in just by how good the giants and birds are. then again, i could see them shit to bed as well and win 6 or 7 games.

either way, i'm pretty psyched that football is just around the corner!
my phils are starting to run away with the east. so the rest of the season is pretty much gonna be them in cruise control until october. need to start focusing on the birds a bit now.

Yeah got to live in the now and right now the Steelers are the reigning champs. With such an easy schedule this year it's looking good for us Steeler fans again. After all they did it last year with the toughest schedule in 50 years.

Cowboys will not make the playoffs!

The way I've understood it is that the Giants are building their receivers to be the fastest in the league to be able to still have to the deep ball threat, and get that 8th man out of the box. Jacobs was not efficient when that 8th man was there.
Also have to realize that with a great defense, we don't need to be scoring more than 20 points a game, a lot of the games we'll win will be 13-10, 17-7 because our defense wont let up too many points.

There's so many teams that can take the wild card spots besides the NFC East....Falcons, Tampa, Chicago, Green Bay, even the Saints

I have a good buddy who was KC (area) born and raised but became a Pokes fan when he was a student at North Texas State. He continued to live in the Dallas area for about four years after he graduated. He's always remained loyal to KC area sports teams (Royals, Jayhawks, Tom Watson, etc) except for football. And, of course, his beloved Mean Green. Therefore, I say that I hope that Dallas fails to make the playoffs this year.
Down the street you can hear her scream youre a disgrace
As she slams the door in his drunken face
    And now he stands outside
And all the neighbours start to gossip and drool
He cries oh, girl you must be mad,
What happened to the sweet love you and me had?
Against the door he leans and starts a scene,
And his tears fall and burn the garden green

I'm not disagreeing with you. But you have to realize that they relied on their running game to open up the passing game, and the running game was so-so after Plax shot himself...which caused all the pressure on Eli. Eli is awful under pressure, I will admit that...but look at the game against the Boys they lost, and the Philly playoff game, how many passes were dropped? That wasn't Eli's fault.

I'm excited...The rivalry between the Giants and Eagles is probably the highest it's been in a while and the Cowboys have something to prove, but will they?

My team to watch is the Falcons...they might be dangerous.

This thread has me thinking about the the last time the Cowboys were good enough to win a playoff game, around the same time as my Chiefs. THe Chiefs were the winningest team in the 90's (look it up) but haven't won a playoff since Montana was quarterback in '94, so I can't poke too much fun at the Cowboys, no matter how tempting. Maybe now that Romo can stop thinking about hot tail long enough to focus on a playoff game I think this might be their year. Unfortunately for me the Chiefs won't make the playoffs unless we can get Montana cloned along with about half of our 90's defense and O line.

This is not the official 2009 Dallas Cowboys thread so I refuse to recognize it.

Kidding. I don't think so. I am gathering my thoughts about the upcoming season, but for the first time in a few years, I am not really looking forward to it.
