Traffic! That was a song whenever I played my parakeet would sing to. Good memories. :)
"I'd rather be with an animal." "Those that can be trusted can change their mind." "The in between is mine." "If I don't lose control, explore and not explode, a preternatural other plane with the power to maintain." "Yeh this is living." "Life is what you make it."

    LOVE that song

Grateful Dead always cranked out that cover...specifically a Dear Mr. Fantasy > Hey Jude tandem cover...that i am sure has been played at the Spectrum a couple of times.

Winwood/Clapton played it on tour, awesomeness ... and you sir, the winwood hater, need to go listen to Blind Faith. Definitely one of the Top 100 Rock Albums Evah!

    ok.

    play it.

    make it snappy.
Down the street you can hear her scream youre a disgrace
As she slams the door in his drunken face
    And now he stands outside
And all the neighbours start to gossip and drool
He cries oh, girl you must be mad,
What happened to the sweet love you and me had?
Against the door he leans and starts a scene,
And his tears fall and burn the garden green

Dear Mr Fantasy would be an awesome cover. Saw Winwood and his band over here couple of years back, great show. One of the best Winwood covers has to be Warren Zevon's version of Back In The High Life Again. Come to mention it, how about PJ covering Warren. Maybe Roland The Headless Thompson Gunner of Mohammed's Radio?

How bout we go way back and do Gimme Some Lovin? I think Winwood was about 17 when the Spencer Davis Group recorded that......and everyone should have some Traffic in their music collection....

i love, love, love blind faith, traffic, winwood/clapton....amazing musicians, songwriters, singers.
that said, i just cannot imagine ed singing any song that winwood sings. their voices are SO different, winwood at much higher registers...so yea.......LOVE the tune, but just not for ed imo.

btw - same deal with ed singing covers of the police. did NOT work for me. just my 2 cents.

    now this:

i could hear. it's sung so differently from dear mr. fantasy....i could 'hear' ed doing it, and i just think - musically, it's a better fit for ed and pj.

btw - isn't it amazing when you think about it? winwood was 15 when he joined spencer davis group. 15. the guy was/is a musical genius.
    Stay with me...
    Let's just breathe...
