got this elsewhere

It is just a tiny piece but it looks cool. Go to Tom Tommorrows home page and you can see it in the background on the right in the picture of his new childrens book. I think he might have accidentally put part of it in there.

Looks cool.

what drugs are you on...I can't see anything clearly in the background

edit: ahhhhhhh...I get it. The circle in the upper right gives it away. Very cool.

i got a theory... Maybe the guys want us to find out most of this stuff on our own. That seems to be the trend to news, tours, artwork. Maybe they want us to piece things together for each album. It might not all be laziness on giving us news / art and maybe its more of a game where its more old school in fandom thinking. Just an idea.

hmmmmmm...an extension of the online game that was put out? I'd love to give them credit for something like this but I'm going to play the cynic on this one. Don't think it's laziness, I just think we are all WAAAAAY too interested in finding stuff out so there is little chance they could meet our grand expectations.

From the looks of the album descriptions in the Goods section, it looks like Tom's artwork may only be on the LP release.

You'll probably just get more artwork with the vinyl.

i agree. It's a game, we complain, but we play it.

a couple of days ago there was a furore about some 10C members finding out about a show in London before it was annouced. Within an hour there were 100 angry posts about it.

Why announce anything when there are at least 50 people scanning the web almost constantly for every small piece of information?

Really, if 10C announced everything I think a few people would have a lot less to do with their lives.
we're all going to the same place...

What makes you say that? The "Original art by Tom Tomorrow (This Modern World)." part or the "24-page full-sized (11.75" x 11.75") full-color booklet" part? I guess they're just emphasising the LP has full size artwork the same as the CD, rather than the same size as the CD on less pages (compare No Code to Vs). I mean the CD is hard cover book, it's got to have the good stuff in it. I don't think he'd have spent 6 months working on just the LP artwork.

I suppose that pic is of the LP, size-wise anyway. Looks like maybe there'll be a 24 page comic kinda thing for the artwork?

Well, I was thinking that maybe a few years ago they gave up trying to beat us to the punch and started letting stuff get out there on purpose to have us find it.... Like finding a long lost record in a store or some news in a foreign magazine. Just a theory. I have had it for a while, but in 2006 something similar happened with the S/T art.

read the rest of the page kids..seems the art is a no code style collage, which would agree with what we just saw there...this is from the same page

Since this is up on the Pearl Jam site now in the form of a pre-order for a 7-inch white vinyl single (click on CD/DVD/Vinyl), I guess I can feature a better look at it here as well. Keep in mind, this is only one small piece of the actual CD/album cover* — I didn’t spend close to six months working on this one image …!
    *and slightly altered at that.

… adding: it’s a little weird, watching this cover begin to sneak out into the world in bits and pieces. This is like hearing the first three or four bars of a song — there’s much more to come, and I wish I could show you the whole thing. It’s a very cool package, the product of a long, intensive collaboration, and I’m really quite proud of it. This image alone is just a hint…

confirmed... thats the left edge front of the backspacer album.

I say that (as a guess) because the only version of the album that states artwork by Tom Tomorrow is the LP. I suppose we will hafta wait and see. :)

I am not analyzing what i think they are trying to say - just simply reading what they said.

  • If I wasn't already exited to get the lp, I am now. The last two albums were underwhelming when it came to artwork. Vitalogy, No Code, and Yield were great and this looks like (and everything Tom is saying points this way) it has a chance to get to that level.

Side note: Josh Willingham just stepped to the plate with Even Flow to pump him up

Can't wait to lite up, throw the needle down, and get lost in the music/art of Backspacer.
