i was just paroozing that site... and all the blurbs about people are such a turn off... and I think I'd type out something like "I feel like an ass typing anything about myself so this will be all you get" .... not gonna get many dates with that one

I've done some serious internet dating. I liked it. If anything, I've made some really great friends!! Two of them, I'm still SUPER GREAT friends with after almost 7 years. It seems I make a better friend than girlfriend.

A lot of people do it. Let's face it's not easy to meet someone who's decent. I've done it in the past, it's okay but I didn't meet the love of my life.

That'd suck me in and I'd go for you on that one. You have a real aspect speaking that way. Leave it up to me to find what I like and don't like about you and that you actually know how to socialize and just get out and and whatever is whatever and just experience the social aspect of it all and that the site is to setup a meeting.

I might be biased on your behalf though. ;)

Yeah, I've never understood why people that frequent online forums like this so much would act like people on match.com are losers. How is it worse than going to a bar and hoping you happen to bump into someone cool? What are the odds of that even happening after college anyway?

I met my current girlfriend on Myspace.com. Much different than Match.com, or anything else like that. It's the concept really, it doesn't matter what site you use. As far as feeling like a loser, don't. The internet is a really useful tool for meeting people whom 20 years ago, you probably would've never met.

My girlfriend and I have been together for over 2 years now. I lived in Utah and she lived in Atlanta, now we live together in our own place in Utah, and she is literally the greatest person I know and have ever been with, and she makes me happier than anyone else could. There is a lot of hope in meeting somebody online, and there is no shame in doing so. Plus, we did it without any compatibility tests...so I'm sure those things help out even more :D.

It's definitely a good idea to get to know the person as well as you can via the net, instant messaging, whatever before you guys just jump into it. Or maybe that's what you want to do, I don't know. But my girlfriend and I spoke for over a year before we even decided to meet in person.

Good luck to you. I know that you'll find what you're looking for. ;)

He lived in Colorado at the time.. that was 9 years ago. Now they've been married for two and just bought their first house in Minnesota!

I'm a single dad with a social circle that was decimated by divorce...between the kids, housework, full time+ job....I have a pretty weak social life. I have a lot of free time home alone once the kids are in bed... I turned to online dating out of desperation.....and continue to...whenever I get desperate enough ;)
CiW - the write-up you posted is not uncommon at all. A lot of people go that route. From what I hear, most guys don't read them anyway....they just check the pics. I read them, and I could tell you what I look for in a profile, but everyone's different so....good luck :)

I'm sorry.. I didn't mean to be mean by implying online dating was for losers.... I was just being self deprecating as I usually am.

I suppose I should actually take the time to fill out the questions and such, but I'm not one to be able to answer things like that. ...you should see how bad my cover letters are!

It's only been one day but it's been interesting to see the messages i've gotten. all ages... 20-54.
And one guy asked me if i was into BDSM and if i wanted to go to a club where you watched people have sex... ....he was instantly blocked...

With the hours I've been working and the fact that all my friends are married now and most are starting families.... this is really my only option, besides the grocery store :P and hitting bars alone! :?

Yes, it's a fun site but can't say I'm too thrilled with the people i have come in contact with.

I knew you weren't implying online dating was for losers...but my disclaimers sure make it sound like I feel the same!
    Is 'blocked' similar to 'paddled'?
Don't try to make it sound like you're not a total freak ;)
