I'm looking forward to the show. We'll be flying in from MI for it. Any recommendation for places to stay that are near the venue, or that have easy public transportation to the show. Thanks in advance for any help.

Try Quality Inn (near qualcomm) or Holiday Inn La Mesa. Or, you can check out hotels in Mission Valley. The trolley is easy to use in san diego! :)

A couple of us are staying at the Del Mar Marriott. Not that close to the venue but a nice hotel in a very nice part of SD. You can get a AAA rate for 110 a night.

Del Mar! Where the original 1995 san diego pearl jam shows were to take place before being canceled! :D
  • Look for places along the trolley line if you're interested in public transportation. But the show will likely end after the trolley stops running. Not 100% sure on that, so check the website. You can get a hotel downtown that way (though a little pricey) and enjoy the area.

    i booked at the

http://www.lamplighter-inn.com/ less than $100 incl taxes per night. Also, I booked Friday and Saturday because I see a Saturday show popping up THIS saturday.

1.5 miles from the venue. Fully refundable so I may cancel and stay gaslamp and do trolly to show and figure out how to get back after.

I particularly like Marriott San Diego and Marina. This is beautiful and next to Seaport Village. I'm actually going there tomorrow. Great breakfast plact on the 1st floor on the marina side by the waterfall pool.

Also like Hyatt Mission Bay. Nice tropical setting. near Sea World, surrounded by water.

Humphrey's Half Moon in is a classic Polynesian style hotel. Also surrounded by water. Great place. They have concerts in their courtyard. Robert Plant played there last year and a bunch of boats pulled up to listen.

If you really want to spend, Hotel Del Coronado is classic, a San Diego landmark.

All of those Mission Valley hotels are the the same as St Louis / Chicago / Denver / you name it, airport hotels. The ones I mentioned above gives you the charm of SD.

Stay anywhere downtown and you can take the trolley to and from the show. Once you're downtown anything you want is in walking distance. Mission Valley is probably cheaper but completely generic, and if you're not careful you'll be really far from the trolley even if it runs right across the river from you. Downtown has a mix of lame conventioneer type bars and restaurants along side highend see/be seen places and some really good low key local places. If your in town for a couple days check out a show at the Casbah (there's a good story about Eddie winning the place in a game of pool). There's also almost always shows at HoB and 4th & B. PM me if you want more suggestions.

cancelled my reservation for the Best Western Lamplighter Inn

I have been lowballing Priceline for a couple weeks and decided to man up and kick my bid to $71. Criteria is as follows:

    4 Star Delux
Area "3" which is "downtown san diego harbor island"

Scored the Omni...which is pimp and I am pleased. Trolly to the show I believe is an option and figure out how to get home after. Anyway, though I'd share the ride I just had on the deal stallion.

Solid work! Yeah, hotel is in a great part of downtown (connects to the ballpark, but we all know there won't be any baseball in SD that weekend) and the trolley is right outside your door. You can take to and from the show no problem. Bars right there are generally on the high end (for SD) but if your looking for something mellower Tivoli is a couple blocks away or you can hit up Waterfront or Princess Pub on India Street. Night of show is looking to be McGreggors, which is on the trolley line, but I haven't heard definitive word on that.

killer deal eh? stoked on it. Onmi is pimp. I got two rooms for Friday and two for Saturday at that rate.

Anyone planning on driving from Omni or trolly? I am feeling the trolly. Bring some beers and keep them tucked in on the ride. Takes about 45 minutes based on the shedule i saw.

I was thinking positive, that's all. Now I doubt it will happen. Still staying at the Omni on Saturday though. I will need some R&R at the pool after all these shows....

Haha. I'll trade you for a cold one...or even room temperature. We should do some pre-partying at the hotel before the show.
