Make sure you know who you're dealing with, obviously.

If you can't get the 10c tickets from them,
get their phone number, full name and message board name, and
ask them for some collateral ...

Hell ... tell them you want $200 until the next day, and you'll give it back when you get the tickets. Otherwise no deal.

    Don't be stupid.

The only thing stupid would be to pay $200 collateral! But yea, I actually agree with the OP. MSG1 for 2 is pretty dangerous scam wise.

  • So you just get cash from them for your Night 1 ticket. Even if you don't get in, at least you're not TOTALLY fucked over! That's what I'm proposing to the person I may be trading with.

Why is it stupid to ask the person who is getting their ticket first to provide something of value to give assurance\good faith to the person who is out the cost of one ticket with nothing to show for it the first night.

It's not stupid to ask at all. But if someone did ask, I would never give it. What's my collateral that they pay me back? Sure they don't get my ticket, but I'd be taking a steep loss.

It won't get you your 10C seats back. You'll be standing at the ticket window with $200 and that MIGHT get you ONE ticket from a scalper to get into the building. Nothing more. You can have all the phone numbers, poster ID's and e-mail addresses you want ... the fact is you just missed the show.

    so don't trade

I probably wouldn't. I hear good things about the Jamily Community, and I hate to be so mistrusting. That really sucks. But I don't know... it's just weird.

Watch out for a dude named Kyle Gaspari from the Toronto area.

    He is NOTORIOUS!
  • in 06 i traded a chicago night one ticket for a night two ticket with leti. i asked her for to pay for the ticket on night one. then on night two i bought the ticket from her. it worked out great.

the best part was we had similar numbers and ended up in the almost identical seats on opposite sides of the united center each night.

My story when i got burned that same way

happend to me and it was someone on this site. I had a SHOWBOX ticket in 2002 and was offered a 10c ticket for the Key Arena show that followed the warmups at the SHOWBOX. My ticket was obviously more valuable but I agreed to trade it strait up and gave the guy my showbox on good faith. Fast forward to the Key arena show and the guy tells me he left it at the 10c box office for me under my name. I get to 10C window and they tell me no such ticket. At the time Kerensa worked the window and Tim B happened to be there and although they seem genuinely sympathetic they couldnt do anything about it but here is the kicker.......

a guy who was picking up his 10C tix over heard my conversation with Kerensa and says to me 'hey dude I got an extra ticket and I dont want any money for it just buy me a beer" As I say thanks he goes "and by the way its front row" It was my first front row ever and I had the time of my life! After the show Tim Bierman saw me from the stage and came down and gave me the Ed's setlist and like 3 or 4 mike pics. That my friends is what you call my good Karma coming full circle

I ended up transfering two ticket pairs in 2005 (after a joint Bus renting effort fell through), one guy was awesome and sent me a check that cleared, and also sent me pictures of the show from my seats and an official boot of the concert afterwards!

The other guy, who sent me a nice email BEFORE the exchange, telling me what a great fan he was, and how he had seen them at this one show blah blah blah and sharing sentiments with me ... this one guy, Benny Mikula ... SENDS ME A CHECK AND THEN IMMEDIATELY PUTS A STOP PAYMENT ON IT.

    NEVER GOT MY MONEY.

So don't think SHIT about people in the "jamily",
there are a bunch of motherfuckers out there,
    plain and simple.

Agreed. If they are not planning on scamming then they will get it back.

But this time you'll be in NYC doing business with a guy who flew in from Germany from the show. Red flag city.

Just something to add here. If you remember, back in 2003 you picked up your tickets for BOTH shows at the same time if you were in the city for night one at MSG. It was set up at a hotel. You went in and they gave you whatever tickets you had for either night. If it was just night one, you got them, if you had both nights, they gave you both nights. I am almost positive that is the way the distribution worked for 2003 MSG shows. If it works that way again, then you can just both pick up your tickets to the respective shows and trade them at the same time.

I had TM tix for night one and 10C for night 2. I picked up my 10c tix for night 2 before the night 1 show.

1: Both meet up, get in line...(B)MSG1 person gets night 1's tix.
    (A) MSG2 person give ca$h to (B) MSG1 person for night 1's tickets.

    2: (A) MSG2 person enjoys the night 1's concert. (B) MSG1 person has (A)'s CASH.

3: Night 2, they meet up again, get in line. (A) MSG2 person gets night 2's tix.
    (B) MSG1 person return/give ca$h to (A) MSG 2 person for night 2's tix.

4: (A) gets to see night 1, and (B) gets to see night 2.
ca$h returns to (A), which was his/hers to begin with.
