I saw Big Johnny Hartson is in trouble right now and it got me thinking about the couple of years he and Paul Kitson saved my club, the mighty WHUFC - it really brought a smile to my face. Not as big a smile as when Wimbledon ludicrously bought him off us for 7million quid, though! (sorry John, but that was a lot of cash back then and we did pay DiCanio's wages with it!)

So, what teams are us Pearl Jam fans, particularly the Brits, following? Any more Irons out there?

By the way, hope you pull through, Big Man,
Cheers, Tim

  • Newcastle United!!!!

I was just thinking how all the replies had been from the BIG clubs, then you wrote NU, Dave. Sorry :)

Relegation sucks, we went through it as a club who were "too good to go down" a few years ago and it was horrible. Good luck getting back up.

    Liverpool fan from Philly. YNWA

Wish they would have added another striker(Villa), but they can't compete with some of these transfer fee's.

Glad The Reds kept their midfield intact, and didn't allow Xavi or Javier to leave

Man City looks strong on paper with the additon of Tevez and Adebayor. Could be the early favorite in the premiership.

    Newcastle United!!!!

    Me too for my sins!

Not looking forward to next season, things could get really bad really quickly. Financial nightmare with no clause wrote into contracts regarding paycuts for relegation, no new owner on the horizon, an owner who isn't spending anything and sheeit players we can't seem to get rid of. Oh, and no manager and the players not having a clue what's going on, never mind the fans, with nothing seemingly about to be resolved. Did I mention an appauling away strip that isn't going to contribute anything in revenue with regards to sales??

    Oh joy! :?

He used to play for Coventry too.

I'm not a football fan at all but what's happening with him is very sad. I sincerly hope he pulls through.

I never get Benitez complianing about the spending power of other clubs, the liverpool team of the last 2 or 3 seasons was as expensive as any other in the league and they spent more two years ago than anyone.

He's a funny fella that Rafa, in a world of his own, I'd say

it might be the best thing that happens to you. We went down with an overrated and idle team and spent the parachut payment really getting our house in order. Pardew really took us forward and he made some astute buys and got us ready for the Prem. We look stronger there now, after a couple of years down, than we ever did before.

I see you live in Vancouver, that practically makes you a 'local' as an Reds fan!

I lived with a United fan for a year and it is a miserable existence. He exepcted to win everything and so the constant stream of trophies and glory was just boring for him -but when they lost he got proper angry. I'd rather support a club where every win felt like something special...

I know what you mean with the loss in CL final last year somehow seems like a failure to me even with the three other trophies. For Sir Alex sake I would have loved to have seen them pull it off. Being the only back to back CL winner to date would have been the crowing jewel in cementing his place as greatest manger in the history of the game!

Since there are a lot of Liverpool fans here and I have only been following the Premiership for the last dozen years perhaps they can answer this query ........Has Liverpool ever won the Premiership??? :?

(to the tune, of course, of "That's Amore")

Mind you, he did a lot of work that season he was with us and managed to make Marlon Harewood look good and Teddy Sheringham look young - no mean feat!

So, that deal must've been done over the phone I reckon. There's no way Hodgson could have kept a straight face when offered £5M for Zamora
I bet they were rolling around the floor in the board room, Hodgson with his hand over the reciever......I can just imagine it !

Best bit of business all summer, even better than the £80M UTD got for Ronaldo. Pound for pound I mean !!!!
    I came, I saw, I concurred.....

been a Man U supporter since I was about 4 years old. Can't wait to see how Michael Owen gets on this season. He could be the super-sub that can finally fill Solskjaers boots.
