I just randomly stumbled upon this band randomly and immediately dug them. I had to post this just cuz they sound so damn good IMO.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iUet9-UT ... re=related

The whole album is supposedly on youtube, so far the 3 songs I listened to are really fucking good.

i've got censored colours, their last album, it is hit and miss, but it does sound like they have potential...

I saw Portugal. The Man in seattle last november, they were headlining a gig and wintersleep was opening. It was a great show. They come off live well.

Never in a million years would i ever think of seeing this band on this forum lol.

I stumbled across them as i was looking for bands similar to At The Drive In and The Mars Volta, i listened to a few albums and they seemed okay.

*EDIT* I got Portugal The Man and Satanic Satanist.

this is some seriously fresh music. Easily the best new band I have ever heard. Anyone recommend a different album? Do they sell their CD's at Best Buy?

Portugal is the only really good band that plays my hometown, real good music, plus they're really cool guys.

just got my copy of the satanic satanist today (pre-ordered). bought it without having heard any of their music before, but this is seriously one of the best albums i've ever heard. I couldnt describe the music if i wanted to, but definately check it out. also, if the packaging for this album isn't the best i've ever seen, its certainly the most original

My favourite Album by far is: Waiter: ''You Vultures!'' absolutely stunning record once you really "digested" it ... a real grower! :D

I love portugal. the man, I've just seen them twice in a row - I once saw them at my favourite club, "accidentally", and just completely fell for them! they're an amazing live band, and I think the new album is actually the prettiest thing I own :)

  • Please don’t feel guilty about downloading. Download the album if you want to hear it in advance of the purchase and make sure you like it and in doing so keep in mind that some of our favorite records have been growers ;). Download the album if you have no idea who we are and a friend or respected music blog or magazine recommend it. Download the album if you live in a place where shipping will end up costing you more than the record (We don’t have distribution everywhere.). Download if you honestly don’t have the money, we understand the times.

Downloading is the main reason we have people out at shows. It is obvious by the falling sales numbers and the growing attendance. Bands know and understand this. The only thing that we ask of you as downloaders is to do your part. Spread the love. If you downloaded the album give the record to ten friends, or even strangers for that matter, that don’t know the band with the same request of them to purchase if they like it and to pass it along to ten more. Imagine what we could do with that. Really. Twitter your thoughts on the album or write your own blogs about it (good or bad), we love feedback! Comment on other sites album reviews and let them know you are out there. Get people out to shows with you…

you can also keep all 5 and get em framed in different ways  if you're in the US, it might be actually worth it - being from Europe, shipping costs explode...

Only got into these guys about a year ago, when I bought 'Satanic Satanist' on the off chance after seeing the band mentioned here from time to time.

Boy, am I glad I took the chance!!! Absolutely loving their stuff! You half think you've heard it somewhere before, but then you think it's the most innovative, original thing EVER!!
They may lean heavily on their influences, but they make it sound highly unique.

Really difficult to pick my best album of their, each is so different.

Hopefully gonna catch them play this summer. Anyone seen them recently, what kind of show do they put on?!

Yeah, love American Ghetto. Kinda sums these guys up really! I mean, how would you describe the sound to someone who's never heard the band before?!! Melodic indie rock, over hip-hop beats?!! Smashingly refreshing band.

thats exactly it. or psychadelic music over hip hop grooves. Atleast thats what I thought Satanic satanist sounded like.

I had to chime in on this one. I'm all for creativity and artistic expression, but am I the only one that thinks the CD packaging of the Satanic Satanist is ridiculous! Took me like 30 seconds to even find the CD. Absolutely love the music though :)
