i can definitely hear the new age influence that mike mentioned in that article. but it still sounds good from what little i can hear so far.
I've really gotten into New Age music over the past few years, so it seems like everything is coming full circle. This album has a good chance of becoming my personal favorite.

What's considered new age music?
I would consider it mostly 80s.. R.E.M., The Cure, The Fixx, The Alarm,The Psychedelic Furs and so on.. Pretty much 80s alternative.
EDIT: I think original person, and I meant New Wave.
well i've only listened to it a couple times....probably won't again....i don't mind getting a taste of what's to come, but i don't want to think of joe buck every time i hear the fixer
maybe it's like Meatloaf's "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" ... with Phil Rizutto ... and Joe Buck will actually be in the song ....

Eddie's voice sounds great, I don't know what the correct term is, but there's lots of oscillation in his tones, very dynamic and his melody is very bright. It must just be a terrible sample, but the guitars sounded so subdued. If thats how it comes out on the album, I must say I will be disappointed.

More bass and drums.. I'm kind of happy about that.

Someone needs to edit these clips together so we can weed out the talkover. lol
EDIT: or pealjam.com can just put the fucking clip up at their site.
yeah, when i posted your comment wasn't there yet. Just the way it goes when a shit load of people are on your message board. most bands don't have this problem
edit: i don't think Ed has/will ever use auto tune. He layers vocals

I know, I was kidding. It just reminded me of that a bit. I was really hoping they'd go off in another direction for this album, but after hearing Got Some and The Fixer, it sounds like Backspacer could be a tad on the formulaic side like Avocado was. Which isn't a terrible thing, but I'm just always hoping the band pushes the envelope a little more than they do.

I love early REM, and a fair amount of Talking Heads. I definitely hope it's more new wave than punk then.

Granted it was a tiny snippet, but I'm not so sure how I feel about it....
We will see.
~ is your Pearl Jam cup half empty, or 1/2 Full?
It works for this kind of song, but I'm a sucker for rich, crunchy Stone and Mikey guitar riffs.
