Opening Act for Toronto, Chicago 1 & 2?

Still no announcement regarding the concerts that are 4 weeks away? I'm thinking at this point that either there will be no opening act or they are holding out for a bigger act. I know Wilco is out of the ? since they will be in Europe during these shows, but I really hope it will happen someday. Wilco opening for PJ with a 90 minute set, followed by PJ's 160 minute set is a dream show for me.

Ben Harper was just announced as a performer at VirginFest Ontario which is a week after PJ, so maybe he'll be in town all week. His schedule is open.

Yes - I was thinking the same thing. However, you would think if it was BH + R7 they would have already announced the obvious.

I emailed 10c and they stated they didn't have an opener at this point but if something becomes confirmed an announcement would be made.

Kinda hard to believe one of the biggest opening bands can't find an opener for themselves for two dates in a major city!

Thanks for emailing them! I'm guessing that this means it's either a high-profile artist like Ben Harper and they'll wait until Lollapalooza tells them they can announce it, or that the band doesn't want an opening band - I'm sure there are more possibilities, but either of these scenarios sound good to me.

I am all for PJ to open for themselves. Can't think of a better band to open for Pearl Jam other than Pearl Jam.

I'd be fine with that "solo artist" who opened at the Vic Theatre. Anyone know who he was?

+1. Here's hoping this is the case for both Toronto and Chicago!

10c's wording to me was "Sorry, currently we have no openers confirmed."

I think that guy would be an acceptable opener.

Of course not, or they would have announced it.

Yeah, Ed or Al or something. Whoever it was, let's get him to open.

May have something to do with Ben playing Lolla in Chicago and Virgin Fest in Toronto, both of which are close to the PJ shows. They may be contractually obligated and do not want to risk anyone passing up the festival shows for the PJ shows if they want to see Ben, even though Toronto is Sold Out. Or I could be way off.

I don't think you are - it makes a lot of sense to me, and it's what I've thought for a while.
