MoveOn email about Body of War
Dear MoveOn member,
This week, New York City members have a special opportunity to see an important film about the war in Iraq. It's called Body of War, and opens in New York City on this Wednesday, April 9th.
In this film, you'll meet Tomas Young, 25 years old, paralyzed from a bullet to his spine—wounded after serving in Iraq for less than a week. Body of War is a close look at what Tomas has had to go through and it's a critical reminder of the real costs of this war.
Every ticket sold for this film is more than a few hours at the movies—it's a way to honor our veterans who have given everything to this reckless war and it's an opportunity for us to help spread their message.

We saw the film just a few weeks ago, and we all agree: Body of War is raw, honest, and painful—but it's also incredibly inspiring.
Tomas and his mom are deeply committed to getting the truth out and their dedication in the face of so much adversity is nothing short of heroic. It's really critical that folks like Tomas have our support when they shed light on the reality of this war through their personal stories—that's why supporting this film is so important.
The film was produced and directed by Phil Donahue and Ellen Spiro, who will be doing a Q&A in person at both the 5:25pm and 7:30pm showings on Wednesday. It won the Audience Award at the Toronto Film Festival, was named Best Documentary by the National Board of Review, and features two original songs by Eddie Vedder. And check out these reviews:
"Superb documentary... almost unbearably moving."—Richard Corliss, Time Magazine1
"Riveting."—Roger Friedman, Fox News2
"... Tomas's heart-wrenching and yet deeply affirming story...both a testament to one man's enduring inner strength and a towering condemnation of a localized conflict that owes much, if not everything, to the miscalculation and intrusion of the United States."—Nathan Southern, New York Times On-line Movie Guide3
We hope you'll go see it this week—and bring some friends. And we hope it will move & inspire you too.
Thank you for all you do.
