when the rain stops
where will we be?
the still dark sky
no longer paying homage
to our sad love
having lost our soundtrack
to our life together
our dance…….. over
leaving us to look only at ourselves
when the rain stops
where will we be?
Peace, Love.

Hey Wolf, This is good, I like reading it. Every time I hit the line "Where will we be", my mind gets blasted into a momentary warp phase and I start hearing Jim Morrison singing the same line in the Doors song "Summer's Almost Gone". Then I find myself shoehorn crowbar trying to fit the words that follow in your piece into that melody and I'm able to imagine Morrison crooning the words. I think that Morrison was singing about the ending of good times and the impending darkness of winter ahead and the uncertainty of wintertime love. Whereas I was left wondering if you were referring to the end of the darkness and the promise of better and brighter things which would cast the situation into a new light. So, like when the rain stops is that where the summer begins - until then you're still waiting for the sun? Do you listen to the Doors at all, or am I reading something into this that wasn't put there or intended?

Yeah, i'm a huge doors fan. i dont think it was a conscious decision, but yeah, i can now see the Summers almost gone thing here.

as for what i wrote, i think it was more coming from the feeling that after a failed 12 year relationship am i making the same mistakes now in this relationship of 4 years. is it a cycle ? the feeling that i didnt learn anything the last go around and am doomed to fuck this up the same way. i guess thats why i ended it with the same line that it started with.

thanks for reading. when it comes down to it, im sure there are a lot of slight nods to Jimbo in a lot of what i write without me even really knowing that i am doing it.

if ya have to rip someone off, may as well rip off one of the best :D
    Peace, Love.

Not only that, if you have to be subconciously influenced by the things that you have assimilated into the core of your very being, you may as well subconciously influence yourself with the ones and things that are the best - their light will find a way to shine through the tiniest of your cracks.

A ripoff is more of a blatant, deliberate and insincere attempt of imitation which is lacking in the fundemental bases on which the original was built. A ripoff or knockoff will never duplicate or replicate the original in a way which will express its uniqueness and singularity.

After subjecting myself to the Doors for 30 years, it even comes out when I'm reading something that has nothing to do with the Doors. It's like part of the filter that all of my subsequent incoming experience must pass through. The same thing happens to the stuff that goes outward from my being. I guess that we all wear our influences on our sleeves and some people are able to recognize those.
