I currently have an Epiphone PR350 acoustic and I am looking to buy a new guitar. Looking for opinions on the Epiphone acoustics. I prefer the Dreadnought style, tone, etc. but am open to opinions of others as well. Would like to spend under $300 for a new or used acoustic.

We could review every single guitar out there for you, but none of that will matter until you keep trying acoustics at your local store - and you will eventually find one that's perfect for you.

My suggestion is - try as many as you can before you select a winner....sorta like marriage. only more important.

And don't forget to try the expensive ones too, not because you should buy one, but so you can compare them with the ones in your price range, and get a feel for what characteristics are most important to you.

As it's been said, the best way to go about it is to go to a guitar store with a wide selection, and try a bunch out. This is what I did, and settled on a guitar by a Canadian company called Seagull - they're beautifully made, recognizable by its headstock which looks quite unlike any other. Something to consider is that (if aesthetics are an issue) when wood is exposed to sunlight for extended periods of time, they develop a rich golden-brown colour that looks gorgeous after a while. Mine also (and I'm assuming this is something that's true for most guitars) started out sounding relatively tinny, but developed a great depth of sound over time - my Seagull is now a phenomenal sounding one - deep, rich, and balanced.
