This would be cool if PJ put the new album on this new technology. This technology has not caught on yet maybe because the disc is too thick for car stereo but plays well in home theaters. One disc with audio on one side and video on the other side, one disc. They tried this format with Michael Jackson(Vissionary series) a few years back but never caught on. What do think? :?:

Truthfully, I don't see the purpose. Wouldn't it just be more manufacturing costs versus just doing a double-disc package?

Not sure why it would cost more?? The MJ disc is like $10

the only album i bought on this format was treys "shine" and its honestly the biggest waste... oh and i think "we shall overcome" was the same... the few times i do listen to CDs anymore is in the car... theres a reason why things dont catch on... its nice having a DVD case for DVDs just for organizations sake... when i get a bonus DVD with a CD it always just gets lost in my big CD storage bin

how bout the next movie is released on laserdisc... or "backspacer" on 8 track

I have a few Dual Discs. Bjork released some and I also have Fiona Apple's last album in that format. Ben Folds and NIN too. All of which work fine in every CD player I've tried including my car. I would rather have two seperate discs though. It is a pain in the ass to handle a disc where both sides have valuable data saved on them. I find myself being extra anal with these albums.

The best part about some Dual Discs is that they have 5.1 surround mixes of the albums. Unfortunately, that is something I don't see Pearl Jam trying any time soon. Given their love for analog and vinyl. I'm a bit of an audiophile so I loved the SACD and DVD-A formats that failed a few years ago. Most people just don't care about sound quality. The slow death of CD in favor of mp3 downloads is proof of it. Very few people just sit in their house and do nothing but listen to music. Which was the intention of those failed formats.
