I need to step in here. It seems like every thread since May has had at least one poster complaining about the lack of shows, the traveling needed to be done to get to shows and the fact that the South and the Midwest get no love by starting their sentence with "well since the band said there won't be any shows in 2010..."

Did I miss an official announcement?

If I remember correctly (and I know you'll all correct me if I'm wrong ;) ) the only time anyone said that there wasn't going to be a tour in 2010 was in an interview with Ed in January where he said that one of the members of the band was having a baby next year so they were gonna try to fit in what they could this year? Anyone with a sense of human reproductive timeframes knows that there's a glaring contradiction right there. Besides, with a new album coming out, and a tour that is already looking like it will stretch into December overseas, not to mention the fact that only 5 U.S. cities are getting full PJ shows this year, does anyone really think that there will be no shows between January 1st and December 31st, 2010?

Sorry, I feel better now, that one's been building up for a while. You may now continue on hyperventilating about the Philly/Seattle/LA tickets.

Yeah I understand. But the middle U.S. has been left out since '04, and that year PJ only played St. Louis.
KC, STL and INDY used to be a every tour stop, now all of us living in the "middle ground" feel no love.

I'm not trying to argue the legitimacy of your greivance, or any greivance for that matter. I just don't understand where the underlying assumption that the band would not tour in 2010 came from.

as for the no tour in 2010 because of someone having a baby... I dont think anyone in the band is aticipating their significant other to be pregnant for 15 months. but there is such thing as a planned pregnancy. some couples do decide when to have a baby as opposed to say... the way I came about having a child.

The forum is starting to remind of General Admission PJ shows and why I can't do them anymore
“I know this song so well, I can smoke a cigarette, have a drink, brush my teeth, take a shit, and mow the lawn while singing it. But I'll only be doing a couple of those things during this version.”

im sure there will be shows in 2010, probably no international shows since the bandmember will probably want to be closer to home but im sure they'll be some shows
    Shows:
    Seattle Key Arena 9-21-2009
    Seattle Key Arena 9-22-2009

I think most people are upset because they just found out the have to WAIT until 2010, rather than get to see them this fall.

Many people, who havent seen them in YEARS were hoping they might come CLOSE to them sometime between August and November. now, with that announcement, its probably not gonna happen.

So, its like having to wait a whole year again.

And again, thats IF they decide to visit those cities in 2010, if they tour at all....

I agree, but that wasn't the point of my thread. It sucks for people that can't see them this year, it sucks to have to wait, and I wish they would throw together a tour like in 2003 so everyone could see them within reasonable driving distance. But why, with what we know about the band and what the logical assumptions would be for promoting an album, do some people have it in their head that this whole baby thing is an inevitable fact? I understand and empathize with those who complain about not being able to see the band in 2009. I can't understand the complaints for 2010 yet.

  • I think they're going to be doing shorter tours now. We all just need to try to sit back and be patient.

The 08 tour (a shorter tour) was so much more energetic than the last few years. It was great. I say they stick with the shorter tours.
