is it your distance
that i miss
so close to me
your back pressed
against my chest
couldn't you have
turned around
just one time
looked in my eyes
gave me some idea
just what you felt
deep down inside
didn't ask for much
i never do
my issue
always settling
for little pieces
fragments
undeserving of
something real
how could something
so shallow
create a hole
that penetrates
and pierces
a devoid soul
shoulda remained silent
wait
did i ever even really
speak a single word
or did i just
enjoy the notion
of disillusionment
distracting hope
from sinking
descending
into a pool
that doesn't hold
enough water
for me to swim
comfortably
in a sea
that seems to have
no place for me
that i miss
so close to me
your back pressed
against my chest
couldn't you have
turned around
just one time
looked in my eyes
gave me some idea
just what you felt
deep down inside
didn't ask for much

If nothing is everything, I'll have it all
