Pilgrimage to Seattle...

Even though I live right outside of Philly (definitely will catch all the Spectrum shows), I am thinking about making the trek out to Seattle in September with my wife. I've seen Pearl Jam/Eddie 30 times scattered about the country, but I'm thinking a couple of shows in Seattle are a must for those of us somewhat obsessed... Plus, I've never been to Seattle so might as well go while PJ is town.

Anyone else making the trek?

  • I am, but only live in Portland and am from Seattle. So really not much of a trek. However, my reason for responding to you is to give you an opinion. I've seen PJ almost as many times as you, mostly all within the North West. My advice would be to wait till they play again in the Gorge. There really is no comparison when PJ plays in the Gorge. I know it's a risk, they may never play there again, but seeing them in Key Arena is like seeing them in any 'ol arena except it's in their home town.

And, who knows, maybe they'll play a show in the Gorge this tour?

The next time Pearl Jam plays the Gorge my girlfriend and I are planning on taking over 3 weeks off of work and Amtraking it across the country, stopping for a night or two in various cities and random small towns, ending in the North West, renting a car and going to however many shows their are. We have not been to nearly as many shows as either of you but that is our "pilgrimage". Just hoping my company does not force me to take the time off I have saved up like many other companies in my industry are due to the economy.

I know this does not answer the original posters question/comment but the Gorge to us is much more important than Seattle.
  • It's worth it - The venue has got to be one of the most beautiful places in our country to see a show and PJ plays it like it's a home show. Of course you probably know that from the CD releases. It's a religious experience. At least it is for me. And I'm luck enough to have been in the fan club for many years and have never had worse than 8th row seats at the Gorge. They get me laid!

Thats unreal man. 8th row at the Gorge will get the job done.

Such a beautiful area of the country. My dad is an Oregon grad and in love with the North West and I have spent quite a bit of time in Seattle/Redmond for work.

After listening to the CD's for a few years now we decided that we are going to see the US and end up at the shows next time it happens. Here's to hoping it's the next year or so.

Went to the Gorge shows, incredible. Will head to Seattle, love the NW and fans are great and with lots of freinds and family of the bands in the audience, shows will be great. Do it!
