So does that mean lottery and Ben for Chicago too?

Just wondering if the Chicago shows will have the lottery and Ben like the others?

Ben is playing Lolla earlier in the month but would be great to have him open...unless of course it ends up an "Evening with Pearl Jam".

Plus I really want a chance at the lottery...I like to gamble.

I dont think so, they haven't announced the chicago opener yet and on the email for Chicago tkts it says that its based on seniority no mention of the lottery for those 4 rows.

  • I'm thinking that Ben Harper may be opening for PJ in Chicago. I think that they haven't announced it yet because he is playing Lollapalooza a couple weekends before. So, my guess is that they may wait until after Lolla to announce it. Just my .02... purely speculation...

Wondered the same thing so I emailed and asked. Heres what I asked and the response I got.

Saw todays announcement. Very cool for those out west! I was just wondering if the 1-2rows and 9-10 rows will be given out random in Chicago. IS that going to be the norm?

Yes, that is going to be the norm.

  • For the Chicago & Toronto shows, this was in the email from the Tenclub:

"Ten Club tickets are for reserved seating and will be allocated by seniority. Seat locations will be reserved from the 1st row on the floor, extending back, and the side sections closest to the stage. The longer you have been in the fan club, the closer your seats will be to the stage. Newer members should not expect prime seat locations. Proximity to the stage is contingent on the amount of members in attendance. Seat location is NOT revealed prior to the performance."

So it seems for these shows, the seniority starts at the front row.
And as a longtime member with a low number, that seems just about right. :D

    Ben's not playing Chicago.

All Lollapalooza acts have a window of time before and after the festival where they cannot play within the Chicago area. If the Chicago dates were closer to Philly, then it would be more likely. Damn shame though, since I've put off seeing Ben play 3-4 times already.

Yer right, that could make sense. Lolla is at the beginning of August so we should know within the next 3 weeks or so.

Don't forget PJ played the Vic when they were to play at Lolla one or two days later, but announced it VERY shortly before the show. Because of this, I do think that the reason they're holding off on announcing Ben opening Chicago is BECAUSE of Ben being at Lolla.. my guess is that the promotors of Lolla know that Ben is to open the Chicago (and hopefully Toronto) shows, but have agreed with PJ on when this information should become public. It actually makes more sense - why would they wait this long to announce a low-profile artist, when they've announced BH opening the west coast shows right when they announced the west coast shows? This is all speculation though, so who really knows? :)

Im not to crazy about BH, he is ok I guess, Ima see him in Austin though cause Im assuming he will on the same stage as Pearl Jam.
Someone before mentioned that they could announce Ben opening after Lolla which could make sense, Lolla is when August 8-9?
You think the contract restricts him regardless?

They didn't really answer your Chicago question though.. I have a feeling there won't be the lottery for Chicago, since it wasn't in the initial ticket purchase terms.

They didn't answer your question re: Chicago. Toronto and Chicago won't have the lottery. But all future shows likely will.

That's how I read it as well. I think that's pretty cool that they're working on making it the norm though!

the lottery is great. I love it. I think it is very fair for everyone... and I think I like that a few shows arent lottery. It makes it so those with very low #'s can still get to shows to get up front.

based on that email I read it as it will have lottery....At this point I don't even worry anymore, I get seats where I get seats and that is it.

Ben Harper's website says nothing about opening in Chicago

it'd be great, as I love BH, but I would rather have Pearl Jam for 3 hours and no opener
