For those hoping for additional dates, shows...

Consider the Yield tour.....

They did some warm up shows in November of 1997.

Yield was released on February 3, 1998.

They immediately did Hawaii and Australia.

Then, 5 months after the release of Yield, they toured extensively in North America. (starting late June)

So, it isnt inconcievable that they are doing the euro/Chicago/T.O./festivals as "warmups", then the West Coast/Philly as additional shows on a small 1st leg, with Oz to follow.

Then 5 months from the release date would be February/March.

Just some hope.

They were also much younger and didn't have the families they have now ....

true, but there are a lot of older bands that tour more extensively than PJ does.

They really havent had a "FULL" tour since Riot Act. Haha, Ive stopped trying to figure this band out, but hold on the hope that there may be more dates out there.

Heck , even with Riot act, they released it in November, the 12th I believe. Then they did some warm up stuff in December...and didnt start the tour until early february, which was Oz and Japan. So, released in November, and the North American tour was April.....5 months later.....almost 6.

really, it was a nice tour.

really, it was a nice tour.

I enjoyed it. But they didnt play Texas, Florida, most of the south, etc. It was the closest thing to a full tour. (and yeah, sure bigger than this one so far.)

The only difference is that they released "Pearl Jam" may 2nd? then toured immediately (unlike riot act and yield)

Jeff said somewhere it takes him a while to get ready for a tour. Exercise or something I imagine. Each of the band members needs to get into their prime to do these shows.

Why go thru all the hassle of getting ready for shows, then only play a handful?

They're gonna tour Aussie. They're gonna tour the Northeast after Aussie. Maybe a few middle states too. Maybe South America... They have a record out. These shows promote the record.

There's no better time to do a full tour than right after releasing a record.

    People...relax...they will tour next year!

They have never, since their inception, gone a whole calendar year without touring. Also, touring is the real money maker. Theyre not stupid, they know how to pay the bills.

Cant believe people are freaking out and complaining that they arent playing Boofoo, Arkansas. They are playing 7 total North American cities. If you can make it to one or more, cool, if you havent had a job in a year or dont have vacation or $80 is too much but $70 would be ok, then maybe concerts should not be your priority.

    Sheesh!

had to get that off my chest. this board seriously makes me feel dumber by the minute.

  • I don't think we'll be getting a HUGE, extensive tour at any point. I think we'll be getting tours broken up in smaller legs.

While it may be dissapointing in the sense that many will have to wait longer for PJ to come to their neighborhood, the shorter tours (like in 2008) make for more energetic shows. The 08 tour was incredible!

You dont know that for sure.

And I am not saying anything about ticket prices or having a job. and its not about them playing boofoo, Arkansas. there are many huge cities that DIDNT get shows in 2006. Dallas, Houston, Miami, Indianapolis, Atlanta, Phoenix, Nashville, New Orleans, etc, etc etc.

Obviously, if people cant afford the tickets, they shouldnt be going. but there are a lot of people who CAN afford tickets, yet cant afford $500 for airfare, and $300 for hotels.

Suddenly, paying 90 bucks now becomes paying $500-$600 dollars. even people WITH jobs sometimes cant afford that.

Im just making comparisons between Yield/Riot Act tours, and how LONG AFTER the album was released that the big chunk of the tour began.

For the person who thinks 7 lines is too long to make a point...

Let me make it simple just for you.

Yield released, then 5 months later there was the bulk of the tour.

Riot act released, then 6 months later there was the bulk of the tour.

well if they release an album and not tour to support it with a full blown national tour then the band should look for better management :D
