Tour dates - I don't get it

Looking at the tour dates, this seems to be a very unusual tour. It doesn't seem that it's been planned very economically, or very green. Not to mention it doesn't seem to consider the band's personal health.. going from West Coast to Europe to East Coast, back to West Coast, Austin, West Coast, East Coast... Is anyone else worried the boys may be fried by the end of all this? That many time zone switches can't be easy on one's internal clock.

The bank hand picked places to play. It's pretty simple. I don't see why a few tour dates scattered over 2 months is bad for the band's health. Your point about not being "green" is a valid one. But I am sure the boys will do something to offset the carbon emissions of this tour.

I think the only tough stretch they have is Europe to Toronto. I imagine that they will leave for Rotterdam on August 9 giving them a couple days to get back into it. The rest of the tour seems to be spread out enough to where it shouldn't be to detrimental. But what do I know?

Edit ** Like the Baron said, it doesn't seem to be to Green, will be interesting to see what they do to offset it.

thats quite the gap between seattle and LA? I wonder if they might announce more shows in the northwest? Vancouver or Portland maybe?

la to austin back to la makes no sense. they'll probably cancel acl to fly to the east coast for a show or 2.
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.

I agree...this seems very ODD. but o well, they can do whatever they want. I'm lucky enough to have a few Chicago shows.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a rollover show in Seattle, if the demand is there. I also wonder about that huge gap between San Diego and Philly.

it seems like a small tour they would do if they didn't have a record to support!

Exactly. Well, puzzling as it is, here's hoping we just aren't privy to the big picture - and that there is one!

It's green b/c there are so few show. They usually truck all over the country for 70 shows.

screw Philadelphia... were are the rest of the east coast or Midwest shows .?? that is one small tour for a new LP .. makes me very sad ... people are going to rush out to get theses tickets just to turn around and have the ten club say there is going to be more shows later on ... Money is just growing off trees !.... Woot

Loooottta people sounding preeetty bitter....bank hand? If they wanted to make more money I'm sure they would play more shows, and especially not go all the way east for 3 shows.

Who's to say the don't tour OZ, and then come back to the US in the spring?

no I am not worried about one thing you mentioned.... this is not their first rodeo, I would think it's safe to assume they know what they're doing... dont think so much

I have a gut feeling that Philly will be the first shows on an East Coast tour for some reason.

I hope so but after seeing how the rest of the shows are scattered out I'm expecting the unexpected.

    C'mon Vancouver!!!

I'm bummed that the closest shows to us right now are Seattle with rotten timing :( We get back from Vegas on the 21st and I don't think we'd have enough time to get from the Bellingham airport to Key Arena before the show started.

    actually, 3 months. ;)
and i agree...they are spaced well enough that it's not too big a jump, one time zone to another....but not more tha that too closely together. definitely not too *green*.....but i agree, i am sure at the very least they do an offset. still better to be more green, but i don't think any city getting any of these shows is going to complain too loudly about that. :P

i AM curious to see what 'other dates' might fill up in the middle of october...and also how oz, nz and possibly hawaii gets all planned out.....

They have been flying all over the world "touring" for almost 20 years now. I think they can handle this little jaunt. First class travel makes all the difference as well.

I hope you're right, pjsteelerfan. As to the "green thing" they have to pass through most of these other cities to get from one to another anyway, so why not stop. Also they would be helping the economy in those towns and that's a plus. It would also save the emissions from the numerous fans travelling to one or two cities to see them play.

Last I heard the band used biodiesel to fuel their planes. But this was years ago. Perhaps they're not being as green as they once were? It's a possibility anyway.

they play la the 1st, travel here the 2nd, tape acl on the 3rd and close the festival on the 4th. no time for a fan club show.

The last line of the tour announcement makes me think there wont be any more shows in the US any time in the near future. I live in Ohio...so I'm just gonna have to jump on over to Philly. Makes me wish I bought tickets to Chicago instead. I was hoping for a closer show. Or at least play MSG.
