It is an incredible place to see a show. No ghetto here, as it is located at Broad Street and Pattison Avenue, which is the heart of the sports complex for the former capital of the United States of America. Plenty of places to stay as well...

awesome place to see a concert...like said before ..very easy to get too...and it's in a large complex that houses the Phillies / Eagles so there's plenty of parking and areas to tailgate...
  • No Ghetto! i Live only 14 Blocks away! Walking Distance.. Its in South Philly in the Heart OF the Sports Complexes..... its not too great inside look wise ( remember its been around Forever),, but sound Quality.. its amazing !!!.. Plenty of space to Tailgate as well

This is one occasion where I wish/HOPE the 10C, when giving out presale tickets, take the member's home state into account, along with his/her seniority.

See... for Philly fans this event has more meaning then for someone from.... say for example... New York. (No offense New Yorkers')

You see the Spectrum is scheduled to be demolished sometime next year and there's SO MUCH history when it comes to the Spectrum and Philly fans. So it's not so much "is it a nice venue" to see a show in but, again, for Philly fans will be an historical moment: The last time we ever see Pearl Jam in the Spectrum.

To me, that just makes these shows more special!!!

So I really hope the 10C takes that into account.

It's a nice idea but not really fair in the grand scheme of things. For example, I have friends that live 25 mins from the Spectrum in Delaware but people in Pittsburgh that are like 3 hours away would have 1st dibs. That doesn't seem right.

Also, to the OP, the Spectrum is a tremendous venue for sound, but it has very few bathrooms and the lines for drinks are usually endless (doesn't help that they don't have cash registers and the service folks use a calculator to figure out your change).

Why not :) It's the closest show to us. If PJ won't come to Pittsburgh, I'll come to them. I think proximity should be taken into account, not just home state. Jersey/Delaware/Maryland are part of "Philly"; but with Pittsburgh being only ~4.5 hours away it's hard to say that we shouldn't be taken into account if that's the only market they're going to play this year (and last ... and probably next).

Not that I ever want to be considered part of anything to do with Philadelphia. Just that it's close. I plan on being in the city for as little time as possible.

I hear ya, but that would be difficult to program into their system. So PA is good, New Castle County DE is okay, parts of Maryland, and maybe some NJ and NY? Then you may need to open it to all neighboring states. Seems easier to just have the presale available to every 10c member.

It's just the way it is. NYers had to deal with people coming from all over the world last summer to Madison Square Garden, Philadelphia included I'm certain. Seems a bit hypocritical and selfish to all of a sudden want one location to hoard the best seats in the house because at this point in time, it's the hot place to be. Share the Pearl Jam love man.

True, But I live in DC now, I lived in south Jersey for a long time, and I was at some of the bigger games there as a kid, specifically when the sixers were in the NBA finals and I actalluy saw Dr. J play. So does that not qualify me since I live further away now?

How about taking into consideration home state and number of events attended at the Spectrum? Considering concerts and sporting events through the decades (I'm feeling old,) I couldn't even count. I'm really going to miss it. That said, I'm more than excited that PJ is coming!

  • One thing to know is that the 400 section seats are 5 rows near the ceiling. I don't normally have a huge problem with heights, but up there I do. I crawl to me seat if I even attempt to go to my seat. Also the floors can get real slick in there. It's real easy to slip and fall after the show. Hold onto the railing.

Chicago residents got no such luck when they played the Vic.

Spectrum is a great, classic venue for concerts. The place is kind of a dump, with sweaty, crowded, poorly ventilated corriders and relatively few bathrooms compared to modern arenas. The sound is incredible though, and there's a great vibe inside the arena since it has a lower ceiling than newer places.
This is going to be one of the last shows ever at the Spectrum since its being torn down in the next 12 months. Plus, the timing of these shows is going to fall right around games 5-6-7 of the World Series, so if the Phils are still going strong and playing across the street, it will be a pretty crazy tailgate/party scene outside.
This area is much better than Camden.

Yeah, I'm not complaining (anymore) :)

If they dont announce other tour dates, i.e. NY, Boston, Wash, Pitt, etc....then expect a lot of out-of-towners at these shows.

Someone mentioned this in another thread...the NHL and NBA have not yet annouced their schedules, so perhaps PJ is waiting to firm that up.

It just seems odd to play Philly and only Philly....then again...they are doing it in Chicago and Toronto. So who knows. Very odd, though.

Actually, Games 1 is October 28, and October 30 would be a travel day before Game 3, since it's pushed back a week this year because of the World Baseball Classic.

How crazy would it be for someone to go to Pearl Jam Wednesday, Game 2 of the World Series Thursday, and Pearl Jam again Friday and Saturday? I'd be in heaven.

I guess the National League winning on Tuesday would be the first step for my plan to be able to come into fruition. :D
