We know there's a chance for a 3rd show in Philly, and my hunch is that a 2nd show in SD isn't out of the question... so why not announce it now so we can plan better?
They probably want to see how well the shows sell 1st.

I'm going to assume Oct 31st will be added for Philly and just book the hotel. That may be a horrible idea though lol.
Im thinking they will add a 3rd show on that date as well.

"At this time, there are no more North American dates to be added to the current tour. However, keep your eyes on the horizon ... Australia and New Zealand are next. Details to come soon."
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.
Doesnt work that way. Demand dictates roll over shows.
It does, but every PJ tour in recent memory has had rollover sales with the note that they might not happen. I don't know why they can't do that now so we at least have an idea what they are thinking...
We know there's a chance for a 3rd show in Philly, and my hunch is that a 2nd show in SD isn't out of the question... so why not announce it now so we can plan better?
Because the 31st is an easy date to sell out. They don't want to announce it until those tickets sell out, or come close. If the put the 31st up for sale, it would hurt the other dates. If they wait, those who don't know about the 31st or think it may not happen will buy the other dates.

Just reminds me of the Chicago shows where they announced the second show after the first one sold and then people were mad because they would have traveled to both if they had only known.

i hope so cuz that's just about the only show i can make feasibly...but wouldnt it suck if ppl started booking hotels, etc. and they decide to play on november 1st instead....wouldnt surprise me

The first two shows have to sell out first. You cant do that if you are talking about a third show. It's simple supply and demand. Concert promoters are trying to make money, not accommodate to people's lives.
but they have sold added shows recently, and just have not charged people until the show was official.......if its gonna happen now, why not do the same thing?

Doesnt work that way. Demand dictates roll over shows.
Nope. Not always.
Well in this case.... it does.
In this case, it's a sales tactic!
In some middle markets, they may seriously wonder if they can sell multiple nights... so they see if one night sells, and how quickly... and if it's going well, they'll roll over. If it's not going well, they don't roll over.
In other high demand markets that they know they'll sell out, they will put the least popular dates on sale first, and when those have sold well (or well enough), they then put the easy-to-sell weekend night for sale which is usually much more popular. If they did it the other way around, they may lose lots of ticket sales for a week night. They have to keep uncertainty in the fans as to whether or not a weekend show is going to happen to make them buy the other shows first.

The other thing is that if you sell the Ten Club rollover tickets it doesnt really get publicized by the local radio/etc so they'd still sell like normal and then rollovers get added if sales are strong enough.
They've done it in tours past, I just don't know why they can't at this point...
