if I were forced to part ways with something like that, what would it fetch?

new record player (2 PJ stickers on it) used maybe 5 times total

ten
vs
vitalogy
no code
yeild
binaural
riot act
avocado
lost dogs

this is not an offer to sell, because I just cant bring myself to let them go. but what would that go for, any idea? I know my wife spent a lot on the no code vinyl, like maybe 80 bucks?

There are few things that would help determine the value.

    Condition?
    Opened?
Are all items that came with the records there?
What is the turntable worth (brand/model/age)?

  • I'd take the following records off your hands for $250:

    vs
    vitalogy
    no code
    binaural
    riot act

The total value is likely around $500. What does everyone else think?

I think he'd be a fool for selling all of them to you for $250

No Code & Binaural would be worth close to that value (at a push)
  • so what, like a million bucks here? any takers? :)
  • You think so Oz? Perhaps you're right. I was just spitballin'. I think PJ_Lukin asks good questions though. Particularly, their condition and "sealed" status; this could affect the value substantially for an interested collector. And let's face it, a collector is probably the target audience here. If they're opened and used, a collector probably wouldn't have much interest and the items would only be appealing to a second-tier collector or fan looking for cheap vinyl.

So Koufax, what's the condition of the items?

  • none are sealed. Ive listened to almost all of them one time each I think

some are in perfect condition, some have little crincles on the covers. I definately didnt get these to have but to play and enjoy. problem is I never get to use the room they are in so they just sit there unused.

no scratches in the actual records. those are perfect. but the sleeves and covers probably show normal wear I suppose. nothing that would make even a non collector look and go "holy fuck this is in terrible condition"
  • new record player (2 PJ stickers on it) used maybe 5 times total

THE ABOVE IS IMPOSSIBLE TO DETERMINE VALUE; IT COULD BE WORTH ANYWHERE FROM $5 TO $25,000.

I can guess on the rest...

    ten ($25)
    vs ($30)
    vitalogy ($30)
    no code ($65)
    yeild ($65)
    binaural ($110)
    riot act ($55)
    avocado ($55)
    lost dogs ($70)

For your records, you are looking at about $500 total, which when it comes to bills and stuff will go in a heartbeat. You should just keep them and make more of an effort to listen to them.

I'd say $400-500 for the vinyls + the price for the player (can be $20, can be $500, can be $3000)

This may be a silly question but why is Binaural worth more than the rest. I have all of PJ's releases on vinyl (except RVM) but never realized that Binaural had more value than the others.

    I don't know. Maybe fewer pressed ?
Apart from benaroya, binaural is the one that was the more expensive to get (I paid around $100). I paid around $80 for yield also...

I lucked out. My PJ vinyl collection was started by a friend of mine. He gave me the first five then I have slowly added the others as they've come out. I didn't get the Into The Wild vinyl but I did get Benaroya. I do have all the fan club singles -- I can't imagine parting with any of them, I'd miss listening to them all.

no offense, but you'd have to sell it all separately. No one is gonna put up the cash for everything including the player. you should be able to sell the vinyls as a package.

i second these estimates. these are ebay prices...with the yield maybe getting more.

  • seriously? I dont think I paid more than 20 bucks for yeild OR binaural

the only one that was serious money was No Code. I think my wife got it on ebay for me for xmas. maybe 80 bucks she paid?
  • Would trading an EV Kenyon Hall poster for a Benaroya sealed vinyl set be a fair trade? I really want those Bena's!

Yes if you sold the LPs individually (not counting the turntable) you probably would have just over $500 in value, at the going rate. If you sold them as a group you'd probably get about 10 percent less...but its always changing. RVM and Lost Dogs has really gone up lately. I see the price of avocados going in the same direction sometime soon.
