Wonder how the fanclub turn out will be for the second show?

This is embarrassing, we should be a much better draw than this. "Back in the Day", these tickets would be gone immediately. Bands primarily make their money via touring these days and a tour needs to sell out the "big four" (Chicago, Boston, NYC, and Vegas) as that is where you can get the most money for tickets and typically the largest fan bases of most bands (sans country music) is located here. I understand why the band chose to partner with Target if this is any indication of the viability of a tour, particularly with the middle class being squeezed financially now more than they have in a long long time.
There's Pearl Jam, The Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry, Robert Johnson......and then everybody else.

In all fairness, there's no new record yet. It's only sold that many from us big fans. If their new record gets some play, they'll fill it up with more casual fans who aren't tracking the band as closely as we do.

why is it embarassing? is the show tonight? there is still a month and a half before the event, it will easily sell out by mid August.

I agree. It will be sold out. The local radio stations haven't been talking about it too much and there really isn't any new matieral out there. Once the single is unleashed, the airplay will pick up ten-fold.

I don't think this is embarrassing. The first show is sold out and all that's left for the second show are some shitty seats way back and way high up. It will sell out eventually.

I just hate to see the decrease in mainstream popularity of a band I enjoy so much. (I had to witness this with The Rolling Stones too, as one of the shows I attended last tour had the entire top level of Soldier Field tarped off!!!). Die had fans like us will always remain loyal and support the band and the ticket prices are so incredibly cheap compared to the other big acts on the road now (see: U2 and Macca, both of whom I do not like at all!). These other large acts are selling quickly. Michael Cohl eventually had to "paper" the arenas/stadiums to get them full for Stones shows and I'd hate to see this happen to Pearl Jam. As much as I love Ten and Vs., the last few albums have had some very good songs on it, especially when compared to the crap that is out there now (ie rap, American Idol manufactured music, etc) and frankly I am baffled why the tickets are not still "hot". Pearl Jam has certainly not toured as frequently as the other acts on the road today and "nostalgia acts" are all the rave with the casual fan these days. Most of the music fans who were exposed to PJ with Ten are now in their thirties and starting/raising a family. One would think this opportunity to party like they did "back in the day" would be the hottest ticket in town.

I guess I'm just disappointed in the general music fan as pseudo live shows are now accepted and real bands who perform 100% Live such as Pearl Jam are not given the proper respect I feel they deserve.

Vegas? I think LA would have to come before Vegas

I won't be surprised Toronto tickets will be up on Ticketmaster the next few day's. It's just luck if you can score those tickets.

For christ sakes! Pearl jam are still a huge fucken draw out there. You can still get tickets to most of the big names touring this summer, Metallica, Dave Mathhews, Green day, to name a few. For all intents and purposes, Toronto and both Chicago's were done right away. The fact that you can still get nosebleeds probably just means noone wants to settle right now, but they will be gone soon! PJ AREN'T GOING ANYWHERE ANYTIME SOON! Remember this, the MSG shows sold out in about FIVE seconds, not too shabby! :o:o:o:o

Chicago would have sold out quickly in the past. This is a concern IMO.

Pearl Jam's fan base is still huge how many other bands can still sell out arenas? The fan base was actually at it's biggest in 1998 and 2000. Both of those tours were in huge arenas that were packed. But they are still incredibly popular I saw them in Columbia, South Carolina in 2008 and they sold that arena out and Columbia is not a large city at all. They already have sold out the United Center which holds over 22,000 people and they will sell it out again. I could still buy Bruce Springsteen tickets at Philips Arena in Atlanta behind the stage a month before he played earlier this year is Bruce losing his fans? Nope. Also World Wide Suicide was a big hit on rock radio so it's not like they haven't had a huge hit in awhile. There were quite a bit of young fans at the solo Eddie Vedder show I went to two weeks ago and hell I'm 27 and my wife is 23 and we are both huge Pearl Jam fans. Their fan base is fine.

As for the original poster you got to calm down those shows aren't for a month and the fact that nose bleeds are still available is no big deal. The economy sucks and the United Center is a huge arena. It will sell out. Of course if this was the south people would be going on and on about how shitty the area is. But that's another topic. Also I think Los Angeles would be considered in that group of four cities you mentioned above Las Vegas. I would put Boston, Philly, and Atlanta above Las Vegas in terms of importance as well in terms of venues and music fans.

    Interesting post...

Vegas and Atlanta in the top 5 Pj markets?? How about 'NO' Scott?

    NY, Seattle, Chicago, Philly, Boston

Chicago hasn't sold out 2 arena shows...not sure why. Pretty weak on their part. I'll be there, but that is weird. I'll still give chicago love...one of my favorite cities to visit, esp for a PJ show. great sports/concert/drinking town

watch the demand for the Philly shows...there won't be a seat left by Labor Day for any of the 3 October shows. and the tailgate will be legendary!!!

and if the demand for PJ shows in down nationally...I personally don't give a fuck. I'll pay to see this band play anywhere. lower demand = better seats for me. They put out albums, I'll be there

paul mccartney at fenway should be a big draw too, an instant sell-out -- but after two weeks on sale, there's still tickets for sale for both shows too.
