Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...
... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.
what?...
how can anyone vote something exept...RELEASE..
come on ride the wave....
"...Dimitri...He talks to me...'.."The Ghost of Greece..".
"..That's One Happy Fuckin Ghost.."
“..That came up on the Pillow Case...This is for the Greek, With Our Apologies.....”
Release and indiffernce are my top two can't think of an order for the rest but those songs for sure have gotten me past shit in my life or captured a perfect moment.
1994 was a weird year. Kurt was found dead, it was the slow death of the so-call "Grunge" scene when Mudhoney called themselves "Grunge"... We saw some cool bands coming out during that year but it was still a morose one for me after the death of Nirvana. As far as Pearl Jam, I remember not hearing too much from them even if they had released VS the year before.
And then, surprise! PJ will release a new album in December... Vitalogy!!! It's been my favorite album since. But one thing that really hit me was the last "proper" song on it: Immortality.
You just couldn't stop thinking that the song was intented for Kurt Cobain. Of course, Eddie always denied that the song was written about Kurt but back then and still today... The lyrics, the music... Everything about this song is amazing! And that guitar solo; JUST PERFECT!And read the lyrics... Geez... I was a singer for a band and writting songs but to see the way Eddie was playing with the words on this one (and Tremor Christ also) is just unbelievable. Made me quit really fast!!!!
Anyway...
You're not what you own - Ian MacKaye, Fugazi

Who's getting Ready for Best Third Track on a PJ album? Lists are good....
Down (if you count Lost Dogs!)
In My Tree
Alive
Comatose
Evacuation
Not For You
Faithful
Daughter
Love Boat Captain
In My Tree is track 4, track 3 is Who You Are. Faithfull is track 2, No Way is track 3 on Yield. And even so, it's a weak list... I don't like evacuation, lbc, or comatose at all.

you might need to tweak itunes then, or re-rip those albums unless you just pirated them, in which case, you're missing out on some great music...
Yeah, I agree. Nothing compares to the power and passion of that song...

9/04/11 - East Troy, WI - PJ20 - Night 2
It's such a perfect bookend to not only Vitalogy, But 1994, and the era of Grunge.
The Cobain connection facinates me -The "Cigar Box on the Floor" line has always stood out-
Although the song was obviously written weeks -maybe months- before Kurt's death...He's the only person I think of when I hear it.
It's really scary when you think of how close Eddie came to succumbing to the same fate as Kurt.
Both of Eddie and Kurt seemed to be living parallel lives in 1993-1994.
Eddie Vedder was likely the only other person on earth who could have related to what Kurt Cobain was dealing with at the time -Hense why "Immortality" sounds so poignant in retrospect-
I can't help but think that had Eddie and Kurt been closer...Kurt may have been able to pull through.
Anyways...This could turn into a whole other topic altoghether...
So Yeah..."Immortality" favorite closer...favorite song.

Much harder than the best opening song, The first 3 are easy, the last group is a tie for me.
