Backspacer / Ten Club -
Is it likely that a 10c version of Backspacer will be made available that will be different than the CD that will be sold at Target and the other outlets? I guess it might also be possible that Target might have a version that's unique as well? For you more seasoned 10c members, what do you think?

It probably is a little too soon, but I wanted to get a head start. The main reason I asked the question is to get an idea if the band has done this in the past. I wasn't a Ten Club member prior to the most recent album being issued and was curious to know if the fan club albums are different.

According to early reports on the recording we could get some extra studio tracks this time around. I'd say they'll use them as bsides or addons to the 10c version. I could be naive about it, but I don't see PJ givin exclusive tracks to Target.
1) TEN CLUB
2) Independent Record Stores
3) Target
4) iTunes
All got unique versions of Backspacer.
Hardcore fans/collectors would obviously purchase from all 4 if they wished to collect all the different versions.
Personally I'm planning to buying a CD and Vinyl version from the TEN CLUB and hold out to see what the Independent stores and Target have to offer as far as unique versions of the album.
Can't wait for some news.

I'm a hardcore fan, and if they did that I'd buy the record from someplace else and download the extra songs.
Fair Enough.
I guess it just comes down to matter of preferance.
Personally -as a collector- I'd rather have my hands on the real thing as opposed to some pirated low quality something or other that you listen to through an apple
i could see them offering something like that this time around.

yikes. i really didn't like that boot. i'm a picky asshole when it comes to sound. i don't want a show sounding like it was recorded in some dude's jacket pocket. give me soundboard. give me clarity. give me something free of the screaming fan standing next to me.
i agree 100%. but it was still a pretty cool "extra" when you ordered it through the 10c.

I've never gotten in on the Target hate, but if they do give exclusive tracks to Target for their version, then I'm going to have to concede that argument to the "sell out" crowd.

I don't take it personal and it's the band's prerogative, I just think it's a shit thing to do and it's annoying as fuck. You're gouging your most loyal fans by pressuring them to buy multiple versions of the same album at over $10 apiece just for the extra 2-3 songs. It's cynical and opportunistic and it's the kind of greed-based marketing plan that is destroying our economy. Rather than producing quality that everyone wants, gouge the consumers once you realize you're incapable of producing something with wide appeal. Force them to buy the same thing repeatedly... planned obsolescence at its best.
