I'm sure this has been brought up, but I just discovered it today! The little Vs. album references on the No Code disc:

3696600786_a1e1c72bc0_m.jpg

5 for the original title "Five Against One"
Ram for the front cover animal, or just song Animal
and of course... "Vs"

...or maybe I'm just reading too much into this. ha, ha. I mean the album after all is called No Code.

  • The "VS" symbol while the observation you make seems logical is actually the astrological symbol for Capricorn. Capricorn is also symbolized by a goat with a fish tail. Not too sure but those definitely look like legs on the animal on the disc. Don't have the disc handy. Are there any other astrological symbols on it?

If you have the original cd packaging or better yet the vinyl, open all four panels and you'll see the No Code triangle in there...No Code is my favourite Pj artwork by far. It's stunning. Wish they'd get back to that.

you're right! they are astrological signs, mixed with other stuff that is PJ related I believe, so the 5 might still hold? here look, I found some Capricorn imagery that fits:

my theory was good while it lasted though. hee, hee.

yeah it truly is amazing. and it kinda looks like the polaroids weren't manipulated (dark areas vs. light) before placing them, which would make it even more incredible! anyway, there's this nice little Jordan 23 reference, too:

^ well i usually look at it a couple times and squirel it away in my PJ box in my closet because i don't want to get messed up.
but my point is i don't really STUDY the artwork either.

  • Both "Vitalogy" and "No Code" feature such great and unique artwork/packaging. We were all spoiled.

^^but it is interesting/frustrating how the packaging we got (whether in vinyal or cd format) is really not like that.
see here for the slight difference:

    2631758222_898ccf3722_t.jpg

what we got is on the left, and the version on the right was most likely created by someone handy with photoshop! I would imagine this fact only adds another dimention to the "code." (the fact that it is not technically complete)
