PJ in Montreal; 2009 or 2010

I sent an email to GEG-Gillett Entertainment Group (soon to change with the Molson family buying the Montreal Canadiens) about the fact that Pearl Jam is (probably) about to announce a tour and hoping that they'll get them to come to Montreal at the Bell Centre and here's the response:

Bonjour,

Nous espérons faire venir Pearl Jam a Montréal en 2009 ou 2010

Soyez sûr que nous travaillerons très fort pour faire venir le groupe en ville

Hi,
We're hoping to bring PJ in Montreal in 09 or '10
Be sure that we're trying real hard to bring the band in town.


Anyway, I don't know if it's a response that they send to anyone like me that would like to see a band in Montreal but... I'll take it as a positive sign!!!!!! YEAH!

I was in Montreal for a wedding last month. What a wonderful city! Great restaurants, wonderful people, interesting places. And easy to get to from the east coast. I'll come if they tour there!

What other places other then the Bell Centre would you see Pearl Jam play in Montreal? Not sure if they can do the Olympic Stadium. Though they can do it, if they were hosting say a festival!

To answer your question, the only other place that I could think of would be at Parc Jean-Drapeau. For those that are familiar with Montreal, it's on the Ste-Hélène Island on the St-Lawrence River. They have the main festivals there (Osheaga, Virgin, Warped Tour, etc.) and Radiohead's been playing there the last 3 times (2001, 03 and 08). It's really nice place, outdoor with a nice view of Montreal in the back of the stage. You can have up to 30, 35,000 people that can attend the show. BUT... You have to play during the summer!!!

Other than that, there's the Jarry stadium (Tennis). Never seen a show there, I would need help from other Montrealers. I know that Strung Out with Bad Religion played there but I don't know much else. Maybe 15,000 can attend that place? And once again, it's outdoor.

I hope this happens, Montreal is such a beautiful city; one of my top 5 favorite cities to see PJ in!

I love the city and I would be there in a second if PJ returned there ('05 was great!). I wouldn't put too much hope in to that e-mail though. I'm sure every city in North America is trying to get PJ to play in '09 or '10.
