Tickets released day of show Question

Hi,
Has anyone ever waited at the box office at the venue the day of the show for tickets? Can anyone share their experience. Is it worth the risk? or should I just resort to stubhub?
Around what times are tix released and how long did you wait?

it just can't be called. i've gotten tickets many times the day before or day-of, but also got shut out a couple of times. we waited for HOURS for tickets to be released for foo fighters and u2 at msg to no avail.

Do you live close to the area? To fly in or make that long drive to that show, without a ticket, waiting @ the box office for a ticket release, would be mind blowing .. if you scored. Though there will always be samplers outside selling tickets. So you might be in luck.

On two occasions I have had luck buying tickets online for what were previously listed as sold out shows from the ticket behemoth that won't be named on the day of or a couple days before a show. Checking from home was a lot better than waiting around the venue. For one show - Radiohead in the DC area last year - the tickets I purchased the day before were great seats.
