Cheap Hotels in Seattle

My wife and I have had a trip to Seattle from September 17th-20th booked for quite some time. However, I've seen the rumor about Key Arena shows on the 22nd and 23rd and can't help but think that I should extend the trip if it only means 2 or 3 nights of accomodation. However, since it likely would be just me, I want to keep the accomodations as cheap as possible for the additional dates. So I look to you, my Jamily members to help a brother out. I need to know where the cheapest accomodations possible near the Key Arena or with quick access to the Arena by Transit so that I can keep the budget relatively in check. Remember, the cheaper the rate, the better chance I have at convincing my wife to actually let me spend the money.

Thanks,
Bone

Hm. I'd check out Priceline - whatever star rating (and area) you're comfortable with, do a regular Priceline search for, and read the reviews for them to make sure they're all good. Then, use the "Name your own price" and put in a bid you're comfortable spending per night (and don't forget to consider the service fees). That's my suggestion. Clear it with your wife first, then start bidding, as they're non-refundable except for if you fall ill (with the $5/night travel insurance).

I have heard good things about the Green Tortise Hostel. It is very centrally located and would be very walkable to the key. I have not stayed there because I live in town but here is the website:

Yeah, check out Green Tortoise. It's quite affordable and it's right downtown.

There are several close to Key Arena that are pretty cheap because they are pretty run down. We've stayed at the Travel Lodge and I think Best Western. Not terrible and as I said pretty cheap. :)

  • you might want to check with the travel lodge right by seattle center. not too expensive.

You may want to try the Queen Anne Hotel or the MarQueen...they are close to the Key Arena also. There is a Silver Cloud Inn on Broadway as well....just not sure how inexpensive these hotels are.

Priceline works well....I scored the hotel Monaco for $80 a night, the normal rate was over $200 if you booked off their site. I showed up and the manager offered to play rock paper scissors and got upgraded to a king suite (even after losing) when I stayed there last month to watch the Melvins & Green River. I think priceline considered that one a 3.5 stars and it was a very nice, clean place. I spent a week making bids to get the best deal as you cannot make the same bid for the same star rated hotel within 24 hrs. We walked all over downtown and it would be a short taxi ride to the Key.
