throwing a birthday party

it's my milestone birthday, in november, with a special guest singing for us for 1 hour.
does the email invite to my guests have to come from my husband or is it pathetic if it comes from me?
i'm more organized than he is. i'd rather do it myself
besides he is really busy with our home renovation and he works OT often (excuses, excuses..)
i saw a sample of an invitation, it said, "I'm not turning 40 without you" which implied it came from the person having the birthday...but that was on a website about how to tastefully word to not bring gifts.
thoughts, please? i'm using one of those e-vite things.

you mean, his email address. I thought of that and I'm concerned that it may go into their junk mail. thanks!

Hmmm...but if you sent it...it wouldn't go into their junk mail?
why would it go in their junk mail if they have my email address already either in their contacts (friends list) or have old emails from me? You originally said "his computer." It's my computer too. I'm confused. If it comes from his email, he would have to keep track of the replies b/c I would not access his email.

For my 40th, We got Bob Forrest (Thelonious Monster, and now on the tv show "Celebrity Rehab") and Zander Schloss (Weirdos/Circle Jerks) perform an acoustic set.....was amazing! Thelonious Monster was one of my favorite bands in the 80s/90s, so it was very cool to have Bob perform all their great songs!
that's really nice. just curious, was anyone rude with questions like how much the performer charged? that's one thing i dread b/c it is NONE OF THEIR BUSINESS...there is one guy who I know will ask that and his wife said she won't bring him, we'll see...

No one really asked how much it cost (I actually got a beer company to sponsor the party, so people were more fixated on that!), and my friends know not to ask me about my sources when I am able to arrange fancy perks.
I would tell people that you want to respect the artist's privacy if they ask you how much he/she charged. Is the artist bringing his/her own gear?
The biggest hassle, I found, was trying to get people to keep quiet during the performance!
Hahahaa I think I'm confused too!
Send it from your email address and just say it's being hosted by your husband.
And if I provide the mic, it's got to meet his specs. I better get to a music store to reserve one, don't know how far in advance people book those. I hope it's not cold (which november can be) b/c I want him to sing outside with a mic, in case people are rude and talk, which I'm sure they will be. As for what he charges, his management doesn't like us fans to discuss it. I think it's based on how many times you've had him perform at your house.

ooooooooooo...a milestone birthday eh? cool! also, i didn't know that you too were a november baby. we rock.
as to your Q, it is absolutely 100% acceptible for YOU to send out your own invites to your own party. there is nothing wrong/tacky with it, at all. i like the idea of "i;m not turning ____ without you"....sounds cute. and that, in and of itself, doesn't imply to bring gifts or not to bring gifts....it's simply wording the invite. or sure, a little humor such as "hey, i'm turing ___ and i'm finally old enought to throw my own party" or any such thing. it really doesn't matter. h0owever, if you truly are concerned about *appearances*...sure, do it all yourself, but send it out thru your hubby's email addy.
no matter what, ENJOY your big birthday bash!
Let's just breathe...
I am myself like you somehow
don't know how big it'll be, the bigger the party, the noisier it'll be when he's singing!
