10C Tix or Ticketmaster/Venue Tix

Just wondering which will score me better tickets for the Spectrum show(s). Not ranting, but the last tour, Camden show(thursday), my tickets were about six rows away from the back of the tent, all the way to the right, REALLY BAD seats. Doesn't that seem odd?

So should I just try Ticketmaster and roll the dice?

No. If you didn't use 10-C for the Camden shows, there's a 95-99% chance you would have had lawn.

There are exceptions, such as venue VIP tix and late-drop tix, but I'd choose the 10-C tix every time.

There were seriously 10C Members on the lawn?!

I may have preferred lawn at that show.

I think it depends on the venue. In the past I have been able to get decent seats through Ticketmaster. I have a shitty 10 club number so it really does not matter for me.

when i've used TM instead of 10c, i've found that it's best to wait until close to the show date (3-4 days) to get some pretty good seats.

one example, for the second camden show in 2003 i got seats 18 rows up on stone's side from TM 3 days before the show.

of course there are no guarantees.. and it is a little nerve-racking being ticketless with less than a week to go before the show. but worst case scenario, you can either find someone on the boards with an extra or just head to the venue. there are always plenty of people around with extra tickets.

while you don't have a great number, it's not near the worst I've seen...I believe they're in the 490s now or even early 500k....

I would say you are better off w/ 10C, than trying for TM the day they go on sale...

Really your best bet for good seats is to play the waiting game, and keep an eye on what's available here on the board, on eBay, cragislist, etc. If nothing comes up, then just go to the venue w/o a ticket...you're likely to find a decent seat for cost. It's stressful doing that, though, and if you are looking for a pair, it makes it harder...

The 2nd Camden show in 2003 didn't have fan club seats. I got tix day of show and upgraded from the 200 section to like 12th row Mike's side. I'm just pissed I was hungover because a girl made a post on the board that morning an hour before I got up that she got pit tix day of show.

I was at that same show with a 411,xxx and my seats were dead center 3 or 4 rows from the back. You might have just had bad luck at that show.

I agree with the other posts that 10c is the most reliable way to get the best tickets, overall. I've rarely gotten better seats from TM than 10c and I only go the TM route for shows I couldn't get 10c tickets for. I'd go for the 10c draw and not chance TM if I didn't have to.

That's what I'm talking about! Were these tickets just an anomaly, or are they usually that bad with a similar number to mine?

Well 'best available' can be a debatable point of view. Even as shows sell through TM, you can wind up opposite the stage in a lower tier than next to the stage in a higher one. Which seats are better? Depends on where you like to sit - closer to the band or in full view of the band.

With a place as small as Camden it might be as simple as spreading the tickets side to side, front to back by member number. You were definitely closer than me in terms of rows but my view was certainly better because of my location, not distance from the stage. The only way to know if it was an anomaly is for 10c to release how the seating is assigned, other than 'by seniority' - and good luck with that. ;)

i stand corrected. it was the first show. i was back in the 200's the second night.
