I think it's kind of funny that in some places these wouldn't be accepted, or known to exist. Just got one handed back as change from a toll taker the other night -- which is the first time that one has been handed to me in general circulation (been given them as gifts because of the rarity). Anyone else use these or encounter them a lot?

I don't see $2 bills too much any more, but these were plentiful in Provoncetown:

Manage a toy store, so on occasion we get a kid emptying his/her piggy bank, which often includes presidential dollar coins, half dollars, lots of assorted change and.......two dollar bills.

Really? People don't TAKE two dollar bills? Do they think it's a joke or something?!?! hahahaha

I used to get them when I sold college textbooks back after the semester was over.
It was funny to see how many of them would also circulate the bars shortly after!

Haven't seen one in years but it doesn't surprise me that people won't take them. I've found some people don't want to take dollar coins.

I just got on the other day from a 7-11. Bought a Coke and some chips and gave a five and got a $2 bill and some change back. First time I've gotten one in a long time.

i see them all the time, as a bank teller. they are more annoying than anything else. they don't go through the money counter and are usually in poor condition. and because you don't have many of them, or enough to sell to the vault anyway, you have to find someone to pawn them off on or just mutilate them and sell them off that way. i hate them.

Without a doubt. How about a little color? Or different sizes per denomination or something? I like Canada's bills.

Every time I make a deposit at my bank I ask for as many $2 bills I can get. I use them for tips and mostly when I travel or for gifts, I keep 50-100 dollars in $2 bills. Sometimes I love the expression on people's faces when they see them....like WTF.

its EMBARRASSING how little the US cares about the blind population... how hard would it be really to have different sizes? they certainly find the time to change the size of the presidents heads and make special quarters

They could also put braille on the bills. That seems a lot less silly then having a blind person try and remember the size of a twenty.

brails not really that practical with the wear and tear that bills go through... itd be like sand paper in a strippers G-string... besides, the different sizes work perfectly everywhere else in the world... its nice that everything fits conveniently in vending machines and wallets right now (that would probably be the biggest concern with issueing the new bills) but i think it could be done... even a slightly different texture could do the trick thanks to the heightened sense of touch

sorry to get off topic... i think i still have a $2 bill i got from my grandpa somwhere :)

I got one back in change on Saturday from the bait shop then gave it back when I bought some candy before heading off to go fishing.

Out of curiosity, how well is braille going to hold up on a bill folded up in someones wallet? While it's a good idea, I think it needs some improvement. :)

We got bumps and stuff on our money in Canada and it seems to hold up fine.
